The apt is clean, comfortable, close to many landmark in Madrid, check-in easy, nice follow from staff. The only problem, the bedroom window is on the back street (De Loyola) on 5th floor but there is a restaurant with an outdoor terrasse that is quite noisy till midnight so if you are a light sleeper or early sleeper, it might be difficult to rest.

So the first thing to note is that although we booked the Plaza Espana IV apartment, we didn't end up staying there... On arrival at the apartment block we were met on time and let into the building. On trying the keys in the lock for apartment IV, it soon became clear to us and the agent that they were not the right ones. Cutting a long story short, we were ushered to apartment VI in the same building, to which the keys matched, and that's where we actually stayed. No real explanation was given as to why we were placed in a different apartment, but as it was very similar, we decided to accept it. Whilst we had no major complaints, it was on a much lower floor, and thus suffered more from noise. This was especially true at 3am each morning when the builder's skip was collected from the next door property which was undergoing improvements!! No mention of this had been made to us at the time of booking, or when we checked in. This is really not very good. Although the apartment was fine for our purposes, and is very well located for the centre of Madrid, and within 5 minutes walk of the Metro, we noted a few items missing compared to the web listing i.e. no oven (only a hob), no coffee machine and no toaster. Although these were not that important to us, we reported them so the listing could be corrected. We did not receive a reply then or since. Some other small niggles ... the lock on the building front door was difficult to open with the supplied key, and the shower drain in the bathroom was partially blocked. Again, we reported these but no reply has been received. None of the above spoiled our holiday in Madrid though, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The visit to the Royal Palace and day trip to Toledo were great. In summary, the apartment we actually stayed in was just fine for us, but some attention to better organisation and communication would seem to be needed.

We stayed in this apartment for five nights when we visited Madrid. The location was great - right at the metro do you could easily get anywhere. Although the apartment wasn't exactly as shown in the picture, it was new and very clean. Lots of blankets and pillows, and all the utensils and dishes you need to cook with. The check in process was a bit awkward as it was never explained that the office and apartment were in two different locations. We were only given the address of the office, which is where we picked up the keys, but then had to walk 10 minutes with all our luggage to get yo the apartment. We were given the option to pick up the keys in the apartment (someone would be waiting in the apartment for us), but opted for the office as it seemed simpler. Had we known the office and the apartment were in two different locations, we would have opted to pick up the keys at the apartment. Although there was a dishwasher and washing machine, no detergent was provided. This isnt something most travellers pack. As well there was only 1.5 rls of toilet paper, which wasn't nearly enough. They did leave a new dishcloth and sponge which was a nice touch, but no tea towels to dry the dishes. There was no hot water for our last two days which wasn't the greatest but not the end of the world. Very quiet, bed was comfortable, and lots of lights and plugs. Bottom line: clean, quiet and convenient but missing some of the small necessities, and clearer communication around the two different locations would have saved a bit of grief.

My wife and I were taking a Spanish language course at the Don Quijote school, which was only a 6 minute walk from the apartment. The apartment was also perfectly located for the major tourist places in Madrid -- a half-hour walk from the big museums and the train station, right next to Plaza de España and the major street Gran Via, not far from the Puerta del Sol and Plaza Major, and surrounded by the restaurants that are all over Malasaña. It was reasonably quiet, despite its central location. There was an elevator in the building, which was handy since the apartment was on the 4th floor (5th floor for North Americans). It wasn't a luxury apartment, but it had everything we needed. The kitchen was equipped with the essential, and the dishwasher and washing machine worked fine. The size of the apartment was acceptable: there were three rooms -- a bedroom, a kitchen, and a dining room-living room, with a table and four chairs and a sofa and a couple of armchairs, TV, etc. There were several small supermarkets (Carrefour Express) within 2 or 3 minutes walk. A representative of the company was waiting for us when we arrived.

Nice apartment in the city center, close to Gran Via. Very convenient to go to the theater and with a wide range of restaurants. It is not big but enough and very comfortable. Thanks to the hosts!!
