Overall a great experience. But the place could with a little updating.

I lived here with 2 other girls for 4 months, and there were constant problems with the landlady, Marie. To start, the location is amazing and the place is livable for 4 months. However, when we first arrived in Sept. the apt was disgusting. There was dust covering everything and our feet were black from the floors. The beds, which are COUCHES that are extremely hard (something we weren’t told before arriving) were covered in thick dust. The windows and blinds were also extremely dusty. The bed in the loft area is a mattress but the ceiling is so low we couldn't use that space and the light was broken. Marie made us pay her in CASH every month. The fridge is really hard to open and we didn’t try to use the dishwasher because it looked so dirty. There is NO OVEN here which we also didn’t know before arriving. The cleaning lady comes once a week and Marie said would be one price but it ended up being more (not a huge deal), but Marie’s response to our questioning this was “The lease agreement changes sometimes”. Marie had a constant attitude with us and when our WiFi stopped working within the first week she said that she could not do anything about it. The WiFi was unusable because it was so slow and was shared with the neighbors. Anytime we had an issue Marie would blame us and she constantly lied about previous things she had said. Our lease ended in JANUARY but we let her end it in December because 2 of us decided to leave early. I was staying until 12/31 but Marie told me I had to leave on 12/27. I only came back to Madrid from a vacation on 12/27 and told her I needed to leave on 12/28. She argued with me and my parents for a week but finally agreed. She said the reason I had to leave was because of renovations, however, as I was leaving on the 28th the cleaning lady came in and began setting up the apartment for new people. Marie lied to us and had actually booked the place for new tenants! She agreed to pay for a new place for me for 3 nights but she would only pay for the cheapest one in a horrible area. When I told her I needed to leave at 2pm on the 28th because my check in at the new place wasn’t until 3, she threatened to turn off all the lights and electricity so that I would leave sooner. Overall, I recommend this place for its location but if you’re trying to avoid a bad experience with a landlady DO NOT STAY HERE.

Great location and good value for money
Marie was a great hostess. More importantly, she came through for me when another place fell through at the last minute. The place itself is centrally located - a great hub for exploring Madrid. The apartment is spacious and great for a group - tho i wouldn't recommend more than 4 couples: 3 bedrooms and a pullout sofabed in the livingroom. (The "loft" is an overhead storage space and technically could fit 2 people, but not comfortably.) The beds were comfortable but they're all sleeper sofas. The photos of the place were probably accurate at one time, but since the apartment is used exclusively for short-term rentals, the place is much more worn in (water stained ceilings, beat up furniture and appliances, wobbly coffee table, etc.) If you can get over the minor aesthetic shortcomings, the place is fantastic for a getaway in the heart of Madrid.

If I could give it 0 stars I would and we do NOT RECOMMEND. When we booked this apartment online we thought it was going to be great because the pictures made it look amazing and we were excited. The stairwell was not lit with lights and there was no way we could get our large luggage up those stairs let alone some of the older adults walk up three flights of stairs. The beds were not actually beds and were futons with old comfortors. The pictures fooled us because we thought the apartment would be spacious enough for 9 people; it absolutly was not. When we contacted the apartment owner, Marie, she did nothing to fix anything. Another thing, before we arrived she sent a leasing agreement of some sort saying that if we used up more than 50 euros worth of electricity or water she would charge us. Never in our experiences with airbnbs or renting apartments for vacations have we ever been told this. Also nothing of that sort was specified prior to us PAYING for the stay. Once we saw the place we could not stay there because of all of the inadequacies. We lost all of our money and had to look for a hotel at 12 at night. This place was a nightmare and we are currently still trying to get our money back because of this false advertising and con. Do not stay here.

The Alex stuido is located in the heart of Madrid walking distance to Plaza de Espana and public transportation. The place was clean & well kept. The owner and her staff were very helpful and hospitable. I would definitely stay there again.

Nous avons réservé cet appartement pour l'anniversaire surprise de mon mari. Nous étions avec nos 3 enfants ado et le séjour a été super. Le choix de cet appartement était excellent, car il est très bien situé, dans une rue très calme et très peu loin de l'agitation du centre ville. Les salles de douches sont agréables, la literie est parfaite, les lits étaient faits et le linge de toilette fournis..
La propriétaire est très agréable et compréhensive (arrivée très tardive à l'appartement, les clés étaient malgré tout à notre disposition).
N'hésitez pas à réserver car tout est parfait.La propriétaire semble avoir fait un effort particulier pour rénover cet appartement l'an passé, ce qui est appréciable. Elle s'est montrée tres disponible, meme lorsque je lui ai demandé si elle pouvait nous donner les clefs a 2h du matin.
La propriétaire nous a donné des conseils tres utiles sur les musées et les restaurants !
L'hébergement est idéal, tant pour des vacances en famille ou entre amis. Nous avons passé un tres bon séjour de 3 jours. Recommandé pour : Les + de 55 ans, virées entre filles, tourisme sans voiture, Tourisme, Famille avec adolescents, Familles avec enfants en bas âge.

The place to be in Madrid
We were very satisfied by the apartment! Good location (near downtown and not to noisy). The rooms and bathrooms were clean and the eight of us were very delighted by the accommodations (wifi, tv, cooler,…).
Moreover the housekeeper was very kind and on call!

Great apartment, great location!
I stayed at Calle de la Manzana for almost 6 months whilst working in Madrid.
The location is ideal for anyone hoping to enjoy everything the city has to offer, literally seconds from Gran Via, and a short walk from many of the cities nicest shopping and dining areas. Due to being located on a small side street there is none of the noise you would expect being in such a central area.
The apartment itself is clean, light and spacious, offering all the comforts of home, away from home. The recent renovation has been done to a very high standard, particularly the bathroom, and the apartment is fully equipped, so all you need bring is your clothes. Free wifi and satellite TV was also a huge bonus, whether staying long- or short-term. The flexibility of the accommodation meant I could convert the spare bedroom into a second living area if necessary, and adjust each area to my changing needs.
Check in and out were seamless, a representative for Madrid City Breaks met me at the apartment, handed over keys, showed me around and explained the situation with cleaning, laundry, internet etc. which was a huge relief after a long journey, job change and international move.
Would definitely recommend to anyone planning a trip to this wonderful city!

The location was good, specially close to Plaza España and Gran Via, within easy walking distance of all the city highlights.
This is a great place to go if you are travelling with a significant group of friends.
The apartment is generally well-maintained and well equipped by "Swedish" furniture.
The only (but too much important!) point that caused dissatisfaction was the cleanliness! All the bed-sheets were dirty! An important think to clean/wash when a guest finish his stay.

Right in the city at an affordable price
The apartment was right in the city center, very close to all the attractions. Gran Via is 5 mnt walking. Under ground station is 5 mnts walking. It is ideal for a small family of 6 to 8 people. Though rooms were very small and the bathroom was small like in cruise ship. But they have all the basic facility, secured appartment with internet. It is good if you are out for the whole day and just want to sleep at night. The owner Marrie is very helpful. The apartment is exactly what you see in the picture. Only sad thing is they do not provide towels, & you can not expect tourist to carry towels in their bags. We were two families 4 children & 4 adult from Mumbai India. Looking at the price of the hotels in the city this apartment is a real value for money. If you are happy go lucky and want to stay in the city center at a reasonable price this is a right property for you.
