Located in Galway, this attractive house for $278 per night is a great choice for your next trip. If you are planning on visiting Galway City, but are also keen to enjoy a bit of 'down-time' in a rural setting- then this property is definitely for you. Located only 2 miles from the centre of Galway City this property is perfect both for those wishing to enjoy a city break, as well as day-tripping to Connemara, The Burren - or perhaps doing a bit of fishing on Lough Corrib. 'The Barn' is a genuine vernacular West of Ireland stone structure which is located in what was once the working farmyard of Leitriff House, a Victorian House built in 1840. The present owners have restored the building and created a very unique contemporary accommodation without losing the character of the property. Between Galway City and Lough Corrib this property offers both privacy and comfort. Within one mile there are shops where provisions can be obtained such as; groceries, video rentals, health foods, pharmaceuticals... and two miles; restaurants, cafés, pubs, shops, galleries, cinemas, golfing, horseback riding, swimming, beach, lake- and much more. This unique holiday accommodation is a unique combination of creating a contemporary space within a vernacular building unique to the west of Ireland. This granite stone farm building dates from the early 1800s.This unique holiday accommodation offers a combination of contemporary and vernacular features and furnishings. It is bright, cozy, comfortable and spacious. Entering the house you are immediately struck by the generosity of open space and light levels which is afforded by the oversized windows and skylight. On the ground floor is a large open-plan living space with modern fully equipped kitchen, large dining table and plenty of room for relaxing by the wood burning stove. A glass patio door opens out to a very private space for relaxing. A spiral staircase takes you up to the livingroom on the mezzanine floor - from there the second spacious bedroom with its en-suite bathroom is accessed over a 'bridge' . All the rooms have wide recycled pitch pine floors and exposed stone walls in places.The back of the barn faces out onto a meadow field bordered by stone walls, a boreen and large trees. Free WIFI, cable television and DVD player. The modern kitchen is fully equipped and the dining area can seat six. One of the two double bedrooms is located on this ground floor with floor-to-ceiling glass double doors which can be opened to make the ground floor space totally open plan. next door to this is one of the bathrooms with an enclosed shower. There are two bedrooms with good quality 5ft wide double beds. For those who may require a different type of sleeping arrangement there is a good quality daybed located in the mezzanine living area. The Barn accommodates 4 adults comfortably. Bedroom 1 (with with large double bed - 5ft wide) is on the ground floor next to a bathroom with shower. Bedroom 2 is upstairs and has an en-suite bathroom with shower. There is also a very comfortable daybed to accommodate a 5th guest. The beds all have quality mattresses and are dressed with allergy-free bedding (duvets, pillows, and extra blankets). A baby cot and seat for feeding can be provided. Guests should bring their own baby blankets. A radio, clock and hair-dryers are provided. Both bathrooms in this accommodation are new, tiled and have quality fittings. Both have glass shower enclosures with power showers and non-slip shower mats for your safety. Extractor fans are fitted in both bathrooms. Towels, soap, and toilet paper are supplied. The oil fired Central heating system heats radiators and provides ample hot water. The house is fully planning compliant with fire and smoke alarm system wired in. Washing machine and tumble dryer There is a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer located at the property which can be used by guests building. This facility is used by two houses, so we make an arrangement that one house has the use in the morning and the other in the afternoon- this ensures that your privacy is respected. There is a charge of €8 per load (wash and dry with detergents, etc included in this cost). There is plenty of secure parking space in the yard . Although we have animals - dog, cats, pony - these are not allowed into the house as we fully appreciate that this can cause problems for guests who suffer from allergies. For this reason we do not allow pets.

Peggy and Tony's "barn" was the perfect accommodation for our visit to Galway. Located in a quiet neighborhood just outside of the city, and equipped with everything that a traveler could need or want. As an added bonus, we were able to meet Molly, the beautiful pony, and Pooey the cat! Communication with our hosts was easy. Highly recommend this rental.

Waking up and looking into Molly‘s (pony) eyes behind the bedroom window was very relaxing. There are lots of flowers and most importantly: the is calm. The barn is well equipped and spacious. The owners are very friendly and always available.

We loved The Barn and had a wonderful stay. It was quiet and peaceful, yet close to the city center of Galway. The apartment was spacious and very well equipped. Perfect for a family of 4 as a base to explore the surrounding area. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful. The pictures are lovely, but this property is even more beautiful in person!

Peggy and Tony were absolutely awesome hosts. They were very helpful, knowledgeable about the area, and accommodating! The lodging was beautiful and just like in the pictures. We loved the skylights, cows in the neighboring fields, the loft with TV and tons of books, and the very comfy beds. The drive in can be a bit of a hair-raiser if you’re not used to small country lanes (we weren’t!), but it was fantastic after a day in bustling Galway to feel like we’d escaped and gotten away from it all!

We absolutely loved it! The space is charming and quaint yet has all the modern coveniences anyone would need. We'd definitely love to come back and stay at Tony and Peggy's place again. They were very friendly and helpful as well.

It was a great spot for us to adjust to the time change and have space to do so, with everyone sleeping and waking at different times. Tony and Peggy are very welcoming and engaging; we thoroughly enjoyed them and their property. Thank you for your assistance navigating transport in and out of Galway city. Taxis were very easy to use to get back and forth as it isn’t a very walkable route with the roads.

This was close enough to enjoy the city center and perfect for day trips to all the popular
tourist spots. The house itself has all you need to enjoy your visit and the grounds come complete with a pony, Molly, cats, dogs and even cows and a white tail fox were seen over the wall. Tony and Peggy were enjoyable and informative hosts. We had a lovely time at the barn

We loved our stay at this cottage. The owners were super understanding when we arrived early and needed to get to a bed as soon as possible due to a two-day stomach bug that was making its way around Ireland during out visit. But if you have to be sick somewhere, this place felt homey and welcoming, and Peggy even picked up some stuff from the store for us to help us recover. The barn has been renovated into a very cool cottage with all the comforts. The kitchen was good for cooking and the beds were very comfortable. Loved the comfy loft with great lighting for sketching in the mornings. The cottage is tucked up in a little area with a pasture that had a pony, Molly, and there were a couple of cats and a little dog at the main house, which we enjoyed (they aren't allowed in the rentals for allergy considerations). The road isn't walkable at all due to the narrowness of the two-way street with blind curves and hills, and the property itself only offers a brief short stroll down the driveway, so if roaming on foot is important to you, just be aware of that. But, all in all, this was our favorite accommodation during our two week tour of Ireland.

Lovely renovated stone barn surrounded by lush trees and broken fields. Surprisingly close to city center, easy drive or taxi. Hosts were helpful with directions and came by to check all was ok after we had settled in. Spacious interior, fully appointed kitchen. Both baths comfortable and plenty of warm water! Excellent choice for a 'home base' exploring Connemara, Doolin, points south.

The Barn is as wonderful as the pictures show! Very comfortable for 4 adults. It is a close drive to Old Town Galway and a quiet retreat to relax. Very nice and Peggy is a wonderfully host!

The Barn is spacious and comfortable.and the hosts are so accommodating. Location is a bit hard to find especially in the dark but the setting is so peaceful. Beds are comfortable; didn’t use the kitchen but seemed well stocked. Would stay again.

The lovely country setting of this property was aurprising conveniently located the heart of the tourist sites, geeat pubs and dining and shoppong areas. The home was well furnished and provided all the conveniences of home. I would definitely stay there again.

Peggy and Tony are very warm and welcoming, they had some important hints for our stay. The kids loved the area, especially Molly. Its quiet, but near to town centre. So you can do both - visit town and visit the area around, Burren or Connemera, if you are by car.

My husband and I stayed here during our 3-day stint in Galway. Wow. It is decorated so tastefully and happy, the bed was comfortable, kitchen was stocked, and Tony and Peggy were delightful, as well as their pony, Molly, who we fed carrots and apples. Closer to Galway restaurants and shops than we thought--the only caveat is the 1/2 mile country road is for just one car, so book this place, put on your headlights, and drive to this incredible property carefully. ;]

Very inviting and comfortable!
We absolutely loved staying at the Barn. It was very comfortable and felt like being at home. The house had everything needed to make meals in with plenty of seating. The beds we comfortable, the animals very friendly (especially one of the cats) and the bathrooms roomy. The house is a short drive from town and no problem to use taxi service to/from. Peggy and Tony were great hosts and very responsive to questions. I highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful Place and Location
The Barn was even more than we expected. It was only a few minutes from Galway, but in a rustic setting with greenery around and a friendly horse in the back. The plants and flowers were amazing and added to the ambiance of the location. The rooms were well appointed with everything we needed and there was ample parking. Peggy and Tony were excellent hosts who live on the property. The information they provided about The Barn and the area was very helpful in planning our Galway visit. It was a little colder in June than we anticipated, so some additional heat would have been helpful. Overall, it was a great place to stay while visiting Galway and the surrounding areas.

The oroperty is located on 2 acres and it is beautiful. The barn is quaint and stylish. You feel like you are in a private country home. The photos on the site do not do it justice. It is very bright inside, the art work is lovely and the barn has everything you need to enjoy your stay. We really enjoyed our 3 nights stay. Peggy and Tony are great hosts.

A lovely remote setting, complete with a pet horse! Plenty of space for two couples - could even accomodate more if needed. Fully stocked kitchen for preparing meals at home. Easy check-in and checkout with Peggy.
