Definitely worth visiting

I liked the reception from staff when we arrived and especially Klaus. The food was delicious, hot and fresh. The place is literally along the beach and we went kayaking at the mangroves, sailing and snorkeling. All arranged by Klaus and his team. We had had lunch on the boat, freshly prepared below the deck whilst enjoying the sun and the breeze on the sea. This is a hidden gem in Tanga and I invite you to visit and you will not regret.

Superb

Very nice location by the sea with friendly & gracious helpful owner. Good service & excellent cooking of fresh seafood. The main villa is a delight with a lot of character. We enjoyed our stay & water activities.

No menu or a la carte but rather just a set lunch or dinner at fixed price. A bit pricey for the location but we liked the experience.

eclectic b&b that’s a peaceful hideaway!

what a fantastic interesting place, it’s a bit off the beaten track but worth seeking out, it’s a little sanctuary of peace and quiet with beautiful fresh food!

We have a LOVELY stay at Villa Matalai. 10/10 would recommend!

Our stay at Villa Matalai was perfect. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly. We had a choice of which room we wanted and was very happy with the room we got. The food was amazing, and the beach to die for! 10/10

An oasis by the sea

The location is great, by a lovely beach and a quiet fishing-village. To just sit and enjoy the wiew is like meditation. The staff was amazing, and the food was fresh and healthy. I really wanted to stay longer!

Villa Matalai is a home.away from home, warm decor and lovely, welcomin hosts.

A very healthy breakfast of healthy fruits, homemade bread , granola , fresh juice, and other items. The hosts were always present for any special requests.

All was perfect! Did not have any complaints! The hosts and villa workers are extremely pleasant and welcoming!

Our family of 5 had a wonderful time, by far the best seafood we ever tasted. Beautiful scenery, we rented the tree hous

Great seafood, fresh(from sea to plate🙌🏽) delicious healthy breakfast included. Owner, Hali was so wonderful, so accommodating and personable, felt like we were visiting family. There is also a family dog, Sheba so sweet, our kids adored her.

Mama Sarah and her husband are really lovely people and made our stay at Villa Matalai more than enjoyable! The house and location are absolutely amazing and make doing nothing and relax very easy. The food is mouthwatering and the staff really attentive. Hopefully we can repeat our stay one day

It was just ZEN

Villa Matalai is heavenly! I planned to stay for 3 nights but extended my stay for 4 nights. Ensure you go Kayaking around the mangroves and visit the sand bank during your stay. The organic food and fresh sea food is what made my stay extra special. The hosts are warm and friendly. An amazing get away for sos lo travelers, lovers and families.

A little hidden gem, right in the heart of a fishing village, authentic Swahili atmosphere on a beautiful beach and mangroves. The friendly staff and the owners of this place make you feel at home, everything is uncomplicated, and the food is unique.

Amazing!

Availability and kindness of the manager Johnson. Free guided tour with a kayak in the amazing mangrove. The beach is amazing. The view from the upper outside room is astonishing. The quality of food (breakfast, lunch and dinner)

面朝大海春暖花开。 Facing the sea with spring blossoms, Villa Metallic heals my homesick. I really enjoy my days there. Mama Sahra and her family were very friendly and hospitality, so as Sheba (cute dog). Definitely will spend my holidays next time.

A very special place

This place is unique and the owners as well as the people working there are very special, open hearted and and open minded. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere extremely tranquil. A magical place to just hang out for a few days.

The perfect little paradise

I loved everything. The hosts are a very lovely couple who were very kind and accommodating. From start to finish the experience was just amazing.honestly was the perfect way to end 2020 and enter the new years. The accommodation is situated in a rural fisherman village and is prime location as you are on the beach front. I stayed in the open tree house room (please see pictures). The view from the upstairs room was to die for and falling asleep to the sound of waves (which are literally on your door stop) was just so therapeutic. You also can see the moon shining. The energy was just wholesome. If you are an early riser like myself, around 6-6.30am daily i saw the sun rise (you have to walk out on the beach for this, but this is only a few steps away!) The food was amazing! the nearest town is about 20mins in car, but i highly recommend having lunch and dinner here as the lunch and dinner is 5 stars. All freshly prepared and beyond tasty. I only wish i took more pictures of it! You have the beach on your doorstep followed by mangroves in the short distance. Again i would definitely recommend kayak in the mangrove, it is so peaceful and serene. We took a Dhow onto the sand bank which again was another amazing experience. The water here was very clear and were able to snorkel. The place is the perfect place relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is the perfect gateway for both family wanting to spend real quality time with each other or couples.
