Die herausragendste Unterkunft auf unserer Rundreise

Das absolute Highlight unserer Rundreise durch Island. Unser Zimmer war hervorragend ausgestattet, und das Hauptgebäude, in dem wir auch unser Frühstück genossen, präsentierte sich in einem charmanten Landhausstil und war außergewöhnlich gut gestaltet. Das Frühstücksangebot war erstklassig, eine solche Vielfalt hatten wir selten erlebt – inklusive frisch zubereiteter Pancakes und mehr. Hinzu kamen zwei gemütliche Hot Tubs, von denen aus wir die Nordlichter bestaunen konnten – einfach traumhaft.

Die Anfahrt zur Lodge führte über einen Schotterweg, der eigentlich mal wieder instand gesetzt werden müsste – aber das ist in Island ja eigentlich Standard :-)

The AURORA hotel for your stay!

Perfect location for northern lights. We would just pull our Car on the gravel road avoiding the hotel lights,and voila!! AURORA BOREALIS dancing over us. The hotel was easy to find. Good staff & good facilities. Excellent breakfast (Croissants are to die for) Our room had clear view of mountains... room was decent size. Rooms were cleaned by staff everyday. I could not find anything dirty even if I tried lol Shower is really small, but no other issues.

Apparently it's an Iceland thing to provide individual blankets but we would have preferred to have a big blanket to cover both of us.

Fabulous place to stay with a hire car.

My wife and I spent five nights here in Nov 2023 and had an absolutely wonderful time. The staff are without exception super friendly, polite and helpful. We stayed in a superior room and were able to watch out for the Aurora through the window without having to sit waiting in the cold. Once spotted we wrapped up warm and sat outside on the deck to take in the show in all its glory. Its location is perfect for site seeing with a hire car. We were easily able to complete the Golden Circle, and reach out as far as Svartifoss from there. It was also possible to eat breakfast and reach Vik for a glacier tour starting at 08:45hrs. The breakfast was excellent, all you could wish for and catering to all tastes. The Superior Room was snug but had everything we needed. It was warm and very comfortable. The shower was hot and very powerful, just what was needed after being out all day site seeing in the cold. There was no restaurant to eat in the evening but they were able to offer hot soup with bread which was excellent. If a more sizeable meal is required, there are plenty of places to eat near by in Hvolsvöllur. There is a lovely little bar with super comfy seating and an excellent ambiance which opens until 22:00hrs. A big thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

It would be good if you were able to switch off the light immediately outside the door to the chalet.

Ubicación en un lugar bonito, tranquilo y perfecto para ver auroras. El personal muy amable y los desayunos que sirven están muy bien. También disponen de dos jacuzzi en la calle de agua caliente.

Falta de insonorización entre habitaciones.

Location and looks good from the outside! Very very basic.

Basic Accomodation, bathrooms had a horrible smell like we were staying in a hostel. Average for amount of money per night.

After chatting with the lady who works there, we understood the hotel is actually a fishing club and doesn’t open for public in the fishing season. We were lucky! By the way, the hot water here was real hot spring from the underground. Very nice place!

Clean and very comfortable. Provided ribes for outdoor hot tub with spectacular views.

Like all of Iceland, breakfast did not start until 7 and we had to leave before that time.

Friendly people

Quite basic room in a sort of cabana. During the storm you literally feel the house shake. Dirty cups were left after cleaning the room

Fantastic. Our room was small but perfect. Hot tubs with great views. Thd common areas were so cute, and I wished we had had more time to just hang out in them. Breakfast delicious. And the staff were the best.

Superb

One of the hotels with a hot tub and they provide a robe in the room so that you can use to and from the hot tub.

There was aurora that evening at 6pm. Wish the hotel had the service of informing the guests when this happened. We missed it but we managed to catch it when we were in Akuyreri because the hotel informed us when they sighted the aurora.

Cosy and comfortable cabin style hotel

Cosy and clean room. Comfortable beds. Good toiletries provided. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Good location to view aurora during winter.

One of the two hot tubs was out of service during our stay. Restaurant was not serving dinner during winter time. Gravel road leading to the hotel was full of potholes.

Exceptional

The atmosphere was absolutely stunning and the staff were all very friendly and helpful with any needs. We had to book a room quickly due to bad weather which really sucked but it was like it was meant to be so that we would book the Aurora Lodge. Loved everything about this lodge from the reception arra to the rooms and hot breakfast. The manager was super friendly and she came and got us when the Northern Lights made an appearance 💚

The included breakfast was exceptional. We really enjoyed it. The hotel is located in an open area which we were lucky enough to see the aurora borealis. It lives up to its name. The staffs are super helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay here again.

Perfect base!

Breakfast was amazing - eggs were so tasty! Staff were really helpful and eager to point out the northern lights. Hot tub was so lovely. Bar reception area is so cosy and a great place to have a drink after a long day out!

Amazing, super recommend - 10/10

Loved everything about the property, the bar at night is an amazing touch! We were able to see the northern lights two nights there, which was incredible. One staff in particular, Marta did a great job greeting us and making us feel at home. Would definitely recommend staying there.

Good hotel, nice views, and amazing hot tub.

Great view from the room, great decoration, comfortable room. Hot tub was a plus. They also have a lovely dog roaming around the hotel.

Breakfast could be a bit better, a bit more variety would be nice.
