This is a very special place. We were welcomed by two cute adorable dogs. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. The peaceful little cabins are surrounded with tropical plants and lovely gardens giving you total privacy. There is no need to close the curtains as you are one with nature. Spending time on the balcony with the artisan rocking chairs and hammock is so calming and relaxing. Lots of nice trails to walk. The meals were special and we chatted with many people at breakfasts and dinners. We now have a couple that we hope to keep in contact with and perhaps meet up with again. The highlight of our stay was the chocolate tour with Pablo who knows all there is to know about chocolate. He travels world wide to taste chocolate. Pablo spends quality time with all of his guests as this farm is clearly his passion. You can feel the love and passion he pours into this place.

Pablo was the most welcoming host we have ever come across. He works hand in hand with his very kind staff to make sure our stay is the best possible. The Anita Rainforest just takes your breath away. A must if you're travelling to Costa Rica

Amazing experience! This was one of our top places we stayed while touring Costa Rica, we loved everything about La Anita. Do not hesitate to book this location, although out of the way it was so worth it as offered the true Costa Rican experience and was a magical place. Thank you Pablo we would love to return one day.

Absolutely incredible, from first to last second. The chocolate tour was brilliant, so informative and tasty! And the wildlife was a plenty, all around, day and night! If you're thinking about visiting, definitely do.

Fabulous place to stay. Very helpful and informative hosts. This place has a 5 star feel and the Chocolate tour is a must, it will probably be the best one you do.

Words can hardly describe the place. It is a cocoa plantation (which is hard to see as it is all so harmonically blended in) with the ambience of a well-maintained English park, were it not for the tropical plants. The breakfast/lunch place is a huge airy wooden place which overlooks the gardens. And yes, the rooms have no air-con, but as they are 360 degrees shielded with fly screens it is surprisingly bearable for us Europeans; and the jungle noises at 5 in the morning are overwhelming. The hosts were the most friendly people we have met in entire Costa Rica; they were giving us the feeling to be welcomed as friends rather than "objects handled for payment" as we felt so often elsewhere. Thank you very much for your hospitality, Pablo and Ana!
We don't know if it's a drawback at all ... the lodge is sort of "offline land" with poor mobile signals and WiFi only in designated places, but on the other hand it is proof that one does not actually _need_ to be connected 24/7. It goes pretty well (for a while) without :)

The staff and owners were so great. They helped organize great trips for us! The waterfall excursion was great and the trip to the dairy farm was fun for kids. I really enjoyed the peace and quiet.
The property was remote and Provo ate which is lovely but be prepared to need your own car or hire transports. Also, due to the remoteness of the area be aware that there is no wifi or service which is not a big deal but made it harder for kids to keep up with some school work. There is one spot with service that was available for guests.

This is the best place we have stayed in our costa trip so far (4 weeks in). The setting is gorgeous with the trees and birds. Only the sound of nature at night. So much breeze from the netted open windows. No bugs which is a surprise for the location.
Huge bed, hot water shower and hammock on the terrace.
Very warm welcome.
Wifi was spotty and only by the main building - understand that it’s meant to be a get away and not too much of a bother if you don’t have any trip planning to do.

Ana and Pablo are really friendly hosts. The cabin had everything we needed. The location and surroundings are breathtaking. Really peacefull and nature everywhere you look. Good place for birding. We walked some trails on the property as well, for example the tapir trail. Very nice. Food was good as well, especially the yoghurt and home made granola at breakfast.
That we could not adopt Vito the dog :))))

The location of this peaceful, beautiful place was ideal for unwinding and relaxing. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, the staff/owner were both friendly and engaging. We had several great conversations with the owner, who is a fascinating individual who has a wealth of knowledge about the country. I loved the perspective and approach the lodge has towards sustainable agriculture. Although the location is far from the entrance to the nearby park, there is still plenty to do in the area.

We liked everything. Staring from amazing owners Pablo and Anita. You guys really rock!
Your staff is also very nice and your dogs are adorable. I am already missing the black one. Then the food (breakfest, lunch, dinner) is so yummy and the tours that you offer are exceptional and not expensive at all. I can especially recommend horse ridding, but waterfall in the canyon was also very good. Then the propery and all the space that you offer is just wow, the trails at your proprery are well mentained and last but not least the cacao trees, Pablo's passion and stories and your delecious chocolate. The best place to stay and enjoy in CR ever. We loved it and we would like to return.
Absolutely nothing. All was perfect.

The cabins are beautiful: Clean, much space, open. Pablo and Ana are welcoming you to their ranch, there is so much heart and love to detail in everything. The food is awesome!! And the cacao tour: entertaining, informative, delicious, all you could really ask for and more. Thanks so much!
Nothing at all!

Lovely well appointed cabins on a cacao farm we chose to stay at since we were interested in learning more about the production of chocolate. The owners are wonderful people dedicated to their work, product, organic methods and the natural environment of their country, and they are most welcoming and friendly. We found the tour/presentation to be engaging and the included meals were tasty and generous. There is also a small gift shop.
It really is in the middle of nowhere, distant from everywhere else we wanted to visit.

The hosts Pablo and Ana were super friendly and immediately made you feel welcome! They put a lot of attention to detail and really care about their guests.
The lodge we stayed in was beautiful, clean and quiet with a great view. It has no glass windows but nets and curtains which was actually great: perfect temperature at night and some immersive rainforest sounds to sleep (not too loud either).
We only had two nights but would have loved to stay up to a week!
Good or bad depending on what you are looking for: there is only WiFi in a common area. So if you want to work online from your private lodge, that won't work, but I'd say this is anyway more of a place to disconnect and relax!

The farm is gorgeous, and the owners are gracious hosts with a deep commitment to the local community. The lodging and common spaces combine rustic simplicity with modern style. The food was delicious, with seasonings like fresh ginger, cinnamon, and basil added to traditional fare.
Making reservations on the website was a bit confusing, but the hosts are happy to answer any questions by email. We didn't have wifi in the room, but that was not a problem for us.

Pablo is an amazing host! What a delight to stay on an authentic cacao farm. You MUST do the cacao tour, highlight of our trip.

The two nights we spent at La Anita were some of our absolute favourite moments in Costa Rica. Mostly thanks to the hosts' genuine passion and hospitality. They have a true gift that cannot be matched.
All three activities that we booked were in our top 5 of our 2.5 week stay in Costa Rica. The evening we arrived, both my boyfriend and I had a massage. The massage began with a foot exfoliation, followed by a full body massage with high quality oils.
We also did the cocoa tour with Paolo which you *cannot* and *should not* miss. Seriously. We learned so much and ate sooo much chocolate (okay, maybe that was mostly me).
We ended our stay with a cooking class down in the village. A woman and her friend taught us to make Caribbean food in a gorgeous, authentic environment. I wouldn't even know how to describe it or what to compare it to because the whole evening was so unique. You don't need to have any particular skills, just some enthusiasm and functioning taste buds.
My boyfriend wasn't feeling well at the beginning of his stay. The masseuse went to the kitchen to make him ginger tea, Paolo checked in often and made sure he felt better, and the entire staff took great care of him. I am convinced that their thoughtfulness sped up his recovery by at least 3x to 4x.
The woman who was cooking the first two days (Fri/Sat) made de-li-cious meals and the best pancakes I've ever had. Mind you - I used to live in France and the U.S.!
The road to get there was a bit of a struggle, but nothing impossible. We would definitely recommend a sturdy car/SUV.
There was no phone reception for calls or data usage at the property. They do have a WiFi connection by the reception, but we did not end up needing it for more than 5 minutes.

We like the whole amazing place in the rain forest. There are stunning views to two volcanos and to beatiful garden and lake.
We enjoyed interesting and comprehensive chocolate tour with tasting of delicious chocolate. We enjoyed very good breakfast and dinners at La Anita prepared with love.
Tapir tour you can take directly from La Anita was also great.
We spent at La Anita 3 nights. I would stay there even longer.
Hopefuly we come back soon! ❤️

We loved the tidy and well maintained garden and bungalow. The host Paolo was really friendly and was able to fulfill all our wishes and helped us with any questions we had. Paolo was also very flexible with our booking and even cared for us after departure. I can wholeheartedly recommend to stay at the La Anita Rainforest.

-great owner and friendly staff
-great breakfast and dinner. almost everything comes from the farm itself
-pablo (owner) can organize activities for you. Compared to the rest of costa rica for a very reasonable price. We did horsebackriding through the rainforest. One of the most memorable things i did in my life.
