Bedrooms 4 | Bathrooms 3 | Sleeping 9 Just steps to the Sand Castle Playground and Lake Kai, Kastaways is an adorable mid-sized cottage ideal for a family vacation or fall getaway. Bedroom and Bathroom Set up Main Level -Bedroom 1: Twin bed day bed (no trundle) -Bathroom 1: Stand alone Full Bath -Queen pull out sofa in the living room Second Floor -Bedroom 2: King with Attached Bath -Bedroom 3: Queen -Bedroom 4: Queen -Bathroom 2: Full Bath Attached to Bedroom 2 -Bathroom 3: Standalone Full Bath Large covered front porch leads up to the front door where you step into a colorful great room with open living room concept—has a gas fireplace—dining room with a table seating 6 and another 4 at the kitchen counter total of 10 seats for the family to have meals together. The kitchen has granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and every convenience. Down a short hall is a cozy room with a daybed—great for grandma or a late-arriving guest. A bathroom is also located on the first floor outside the daybed room. Out the back door is a deck with a grill and dining table framed by dune grasses and trees for extra privacy. Kastaways second level has a huge master suite, attached bath with king bed and sitting area that opens to a covered veranda overlooking Childers Lane—perfect for morning coffee. In addition, two roomy queen bedrooms that share a bath are also on this floor (2nd). RESORT AMENITIES AND INFO * indicates a seasonal amenity. 4ft heated pool*, toddler pool*, basketball court*, tennis court, bocce ball court, shuffleboard*, Sandcastle playground, putting green, paddle boarding* and kayaking*, catch and release fishing. Parking Passes ($5 each) and Wristbands ($15 each) are required for all guests ages 4 and up mid-May through September. No smoking, no pets, please.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We rented Kastaways for 4 days for our son’s wedding in Michigan City, Indiana. It was everything that the pictures showed it to be. It was cozy, comforting & rustic looking. There were enough towels (no need to bring your own). Our Keurig didn’t work & the staff had it replaced within a couple of hours. The staff was very helpful & extremely professional. Highly recommended!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great time at Beachwalk as always! This is our 4th time visiting, and first time in Kastaways. It definitely could use some TLC and updates, but it was great for us and the kids. There were only broken beach chairs, but the office was able to give us one which helped. It had pretty much everything we needed in the kitchen and to do laundry - although we did find it helpful to bring a bunch of our own towels (beach and bath) b/c there is only one towel per guest and no beach towels. There was also no golf cart included in the rental (first time we've had that at BW) and we had to rent one from an outside company which was a bit of a hassle, but it worked out. Beachwalk has done some really nice improvements throughout and we always enjoy our time here. If you are looking for a casual, not super fancy house, that will meet your basic needs - this is it! We had our family of four, and then a few friends w/kids stay for a few days as well.

Landscape maintenance around the home was very poor and we didn’t even use the back deck due to not much room and dirty around outside of home. Home on inside was clean and comfortable. ThanksCorey

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Michigan City is a fun getaway place if you live in Indy. Just a short two and a half hour drive to beautiful Lake Michigan. Beachwalk is adorable little neighborhood, kid friendly or relaxing if no kids. The cutest zoo ever is just down the street. Landed butcher shop is a step back in time and has the best meat anywhere. Kastaway was perfect for what we needed. Good size bedrooms and plenty of communal space. The only negative was parking. But a little walk never hurts anyone. And the carpet is getting a bit worn out. All in all, a perfect weekend.

Our golf cart was "borrowed" one day and the Beachwalk staff went above and beyond to return it to us asap. We had a wonderful week. We will be back!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Kastaways is in a great community which has a lot of amenities to offer and wonderful proximity to the beach. The size of the home was perfect for our group. Overall, it was a good experience however, for the amount we paid there were a few things that we expected to be in better attention to detail by the cleaning crew. 1) Dust and cobwebs 2) Dusty fans - the ceiling fans have not been cleaned months - we had to clean each of them before turning them on. Everything else was clean - but for the amount we paid for the week - I would expect this to be taken care of before we arrived. The carpet wasn't in the best of shape - maybe needed a good cleaning.
