Street-facing windows on the main level are accentuated with stained glass, creating a feel-good rainbow effect in the common area parlor and dining room. Bedrooms on the first and second level pay tribute to the owners' family heritage. Take your pick from the Charles, Chastang, Earley or Hughes bedrooms. Like the people whose names they bear, each room has its own personality and ambiance. A major upgrade is the amazing chandelier-adorned spa bath that lets you know this is no ordinary Gettysburg address... This is The LaVerne Guesthouse. Located one-half block from Lincoln Square and three doors down from the historic Wills House, The LaVerne is within walking distance to dining, antiquing, shopping, and the theater. This guesthouse is appointed with all the basics you need to feel at home, including kitchenware, towels, linens and paper products. The property will be cleaned and ready for your arrival; however, there is no daily housekeeping service. Therefore, we respectfully request that you maintain the home in a neat and orderly fashion, wash any dishes used in the kitchen and spot clean when necessary. This is our second home in Gettysburg. We welcome only guests who are willing to respect our property as if it is their own. This is why we will rent only to families or couples. Please do not inquire if you intend to use our home as a “party pad.” We have a property manager who will respond immediately if you ever need assistance during your stay. Did a family trip with 4 adults and 2 seniors. It was great to be able to walk outside in the heart of Gettysburg with grocery, shopping, and great restaurants close by! The home was just as the pictures show and was very spacious for 6 of us. Only 2 downsides to this place. First it is all on the upper floor of a building so if you have elderly folks who don't navigate stairs well, this would be a problem as climbing stairs is the only way in. Also, the upper bedroom mattresses are very uncomfortable. If these were updated this would be a primo place to stay. All in all it was very satisfacy and we would definitely book this place again. Also, the host was very quick to answer a couple of questions I had.

Things to consider: All the upstair doors squeek. Hard at night to sleep with toilet use. Only 1 small frying pan More hooks in bathrooms A table, chair or another counter in upstairs bathroom to place change of clothes and toiletries Both showers need no slip mats or strips. Aluminum foil Bedrooms need two lamps each.

This was our third time staying at the LaVerne Guest house. Every time check in is easy and the house is perfectly clean and nicely decorated. The location is the best, just steps from the center of town. It’s the perfect place for a family with a bunch of kids that can't fit into less than 3 hotel rooms.

The LaVerne property was extremely easy to access close to all local restaurants and bars in the square. The home was extremely clean, updated and had plenty of space for 5 adults and 2 children. Would definitely return! Owners are kind and quick to respond!

The Laverne Guest House was so comfortable and homie! We could all go our separate ways to our bedrooms, or hang together in the living or dining rooms. And the location in the town is perfect! We walked pretty much every where we went! And the free parking spots in back are an extra bonus. Can't wait to go back!

There are no many properties that can accommodate a group of 8 or more so Laverne was perfect for us. Comfortable beds a plus!! Easy access to the restaurants and shops in town. The check in info was prompt and the owner was so responsive to our questions upon arrival. She helped us with handicapped parking too! We did have an elderly parent so the 2nd floor location is a challenge but we were aware of the steps based on the accurate description of the property - the front steps are easier to navigate. (And the back steps aren’t marked so it is a little confusing on arrival). If you want to be in the heart of town with easy strolls to shops, restaurants and many historical sites, this is the place! We are Gettysburg college parents so it is a short walk to the college too!

A girls weekend away is just what this place provided us! It was in the middle of all shops and restaurants so we didn’t have to drive anywhere! The beds were so comfortable and everyone got a good nights rest. THE SHOWER - amazing!! The only thing I would add is a few additional items to the kitchen for cooking. I wanted to make breakfast for 7 and it was very hard to use the smaller pans to accommodate. I brought a huge skillet from home to do the pancakes on it (talked to property manager ahead of time - and told me right away to maybe bring something bigger - immediate responses which was wonderful). I would stay here again!

The home was in the perfect location, close to the square so we could walk everywhere during the Christmas Festival. The home is very clean and comfortable. The only problem we encountered, though it was no fault of the owners, but more in our ignorance; was the internet television. We weren’t really certain how to get it working properly, but we were not at the festival to watch TV, so I didn’t even contact anyone! The upstairs bathroom and shower was wonderful, I’ve personally never been in shower that large. Overall if you are on the fence and don’t have a problem with stairs, this of the place for you! We enjoyed our trip and would stay here again.

Very nice property, clean and great location to all of the restaurants, pubs and shops. Parking was a bit tough as there we had four cars and only two parking spots available for the property. Parking cost $26 for the weekend in the garage across the street (purchased a permit, 1/2 price). We had some difficulty using the TV when trying to watch the World Series, no instructions for regular TV or Cable were provided. We were short on bath towels and couldn't locate extra larger ones, but made due. We had a great time in Gettysburg, had awesome weather and enjoyed all that the town had to offer. Another great cousins weekend in the books for 2022.

The LaVerne House was a good place to use for a home base for our trip. With the 4 bedrooms, each couple had private space and the living and dining rooms provided enough room to gather for visiting, eating, etc. The LaVerne House is right on one main road through Gettysburg. The positive is that restaurants and shopping are right there. The negative is that the street noise can be disruptive in the mornings. The steps were a concern since we are getting older but no one had too much difficulty climbing them, although carrying suitcases and groceries up was more of a challenge. Having two parking spaces was nice since we had two vehicles. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the LaVerne House.
