The hotel is in a fantastic location on the beach, within view of Kronborg Castle. There is a train station only 3 minutes' walk away - although the service wasn't very reliable, it made it really easy to get into Helsingor and connect to Copenhagen. The breakfast service was absolutely fantastic, with a wide range of high-quality food. The lounge and bar areas are cozy and inviting, and we loved the selection of board games and other activities like table tennis and shuffleboard. I'd definitely stay here again
I felt that I paid a lot for a 3- night stay - although I am aware that I paid a premium for a sea view - so it would have been nice if this had included use of the pool/spa rather than having to pay an extra £45 a day per guest for this.

We had a wonderful stay. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the service throughout was excellent. Our sea-view room with a balcony was beautiful and made the stay even more special. The spa was amazing, breakfast was delicious with a great selection, and everything felt relaxing and well looked after. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it.

The location of Marienlyst Hotel is fantastic, with a truly stunning sea view from our room. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of high-quality options—we enjoyed it a lot. We also had dinner at Restaurant 1861, and the food was outstanding.
Shortly after check-in, housekeeping staff entered our room twice without knocking, which was uncomfortable. We were hoping to rest, but the hallway was very noisy with loud conversations among staff, which made it difficult to relax. The room, while offering a great view, felt quite worn. The chairs and headboard had visible stains, and one of the balcony door handles was broken. At Restaurant 1861, although the food was excellent, the service did not fully match the fine dining experience—some more attention to detail and professionalism would have improved it.
