I've stayed at the Avalon at least five times already, and it's always very good. The location at the edge of the Riga Old Town is really convenient. The bus from and to the airport stops almost in front of the hotel. The rooms are nice and the staff is really friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are wholesome and plentiful and the bartender downstairs is really friendly and sociable. I'll gladly stay there again next time I am in Riga.
There isn't anything I would identify as really negative. It was overall a very positive experience.

the location is good, close to the sightseeing and transport. luggage room is available for your baggage which you can access at any time. Waiting room is big, so if you checked out and still have a time before your flight, there is a lot of space to relax, including massage chairs. There is a restaurant and bar. The bar was open, however, the restaurant was closed. I must say that the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
The room was very small for 3 people, I expected it to be at least a bit bigger that it is. Windows are so small and very high, so even if I wanted to open them, I wouldn't be able to do it -I would need to ask for a ladder. Small windows is the reason why there is not enough day light in the room. No fridge in the room! Are they serious? I asked at reception about it and they brought me kinda like a cooling camera, similar to what you take for a camping or picnic. It was on whole night and still the food was not as cold as I expected it to be. I tried to switch off the AC but apparently it was impossible, even the maintenance guy couldn't do this. In my personal opinion, medium size pizza in the bar for 18 euros is quite overpriced.... I highly doubt I will stay there again unless they are the only one hotel with free rooms around that area.
