This was our second time at Janeiro, as we love the people working there and the overall vibe - a special shout-out to Espe, Vanessa, Eli and Jorge who made our stay amazing! As a gay couple, we felt welcome and accepted. We spent two weeks there without a care in the world - our rooms were kept clean, the food was always great and the pool was wonderful. I especially like the access to the gym and the spa. The waiters are the most amazing who always have a nice word or two to you, they are extremely friendly with kids.
As it was our second time, we noticed that the place has downgraded in many aspects, and could feel how the management is sticking to every penny. Some systems were changed and felt like the needed repairs, maintenance and upkeep were not done. Compared to last year (when the place was managed by Ferrer and not Globales...), we noticed:
- the spa was disappointing this year with many features turned off and the main pool area being cold.
- the wifi kept having issues and had a much smaller reach. I had to use 5G so much that my plan ran out of it.
- one of the elevators was down the whole time we were there and not repaired. Waiting and getting an elevator could take up to 5-10 mins.
- the token system simply makes you hydrate less. The cups were changed to smaller ones so getting your daily water / drink intake means always getting up, waiting in a long line over and over again. Queueing at the bar can take up to 5-10 mins.
- the choice of food was downscaled. There was barely any alternative to milk at breakfast, food displays were not showing the correct information about the actual item, there was a lot of repetition, and most importantly, the trays and bowls were not filled up on time.
- the aquagym sessions gave the feeling of "let's get this done with", while last year they were a delight and a real workout before spending the whole day on the sunbed.
All the above comes with the general feeling that workers (waiters especially both in the dining area and the bar) are overworked. They do their best and they put their heart into their job, but they are simply not enough to handle this amount of people, plates, requests and all. The heart of this place lies in the workers who make your day with their smile and it felt bad to see them so overworked. If it's because of Globales taking over, I'm afraid it was a bad decision...

The staff was wonderful - always friendly, smiling, and very helpful.
The food was delicious and varied every day. The massages were excellent, and the pool was great as well.
The animation team was very engaged and really took care of the guests, making the atmosphere even more enjoyable.
A very small minus for communication. During check-in I provided the details for the invoice, but on the day of departure I had to provide them again. Also, during check-in it turned out that the prices on Booking were different from the actual prices. Fortunately, the final amount was lower, which was a nice surprise, but it’s still worth improving the communication.

Swimming pool. SPA. Animation.
Everything was wonderful! The hotel is truly an amazing place for a family vacation. The atmosphere, service, and overall experience were fantastic.
The only small suggestion I would make is to improve the communication regarding the difference between All Inclusive and Half Board, as we were almost charged for drinks during meals with the Half Board option.
However, this is just a minor remark - everything else was excellent, and we really enjoyed our stay. We would happily come back! 😊

The spa was great, really good breakfast variety.
Lovely lady on omelette and pancake station.
Rude staff, broken fridge, leaking air con which flooded our room and then my daughter slipped in the middle of night going to bathroom. Changing prices at front desk depending on
which member of staff you spoke to. No pool bar for food! N
