Well furnished and equipped room, with comfortable beds, desk, 2 chairs, and excellent en-suite. Some staff at check-in, and the charming concierge, were very helpful. Location is superb for train travellers - right next to Waverley Station. Good breakfast.
Some rooms, have very little view. Ours faced the surface of another building, with only very limited city views looking at an acute angle from the window.
Some hotel staff seemed poorly trained. A member of the housekeeping staff, not in uniform, was knocking on the door at 10.59 to tell us to leave unless we had extended our check-out beyond 11. The day before we noticed a cupboard door left open in a 6th floor corridor, displaying a dis- ordered collection of cleaning materials. These kinds of small lapse in standards undermine the hotel's aspirational marketing, which then calls into question whether the room cost is over-expensive.

Loved the ‘little touches’ like delicious drink in the lobby, Scotsman paper to the room, sparkling water available in gym and room.

The location is excellent.
The room entrance needed better cleaning and maintenance. Smells bad and have a big stain, inside the windows didn’t close properly.
