Great location, good parking, very nicely renovated and really lovely and helpful staff

Beautiful heritage-listed pub with comfortable and spacious rooms. Good bathroom with hot shower. Excellent tea and coffee station in room. The dining area was impressive and the menu good. Good selection for breakfast.
We had to climb stairs to access our room- a challenge with heavy bags. (Thankfully someone was able to help) While the breakfast menu was good the food wasn’t always as good.

Very comfortable, lovely furnishings and clean. The shower was enormous as was the room, with clean, fluffy towels. Lovely, friendly staff and the food was excellent!
The only downside to the room was the carpet was pulling away from the fixings by the bathroom so had to remember to step over the jam so as not to get pricked.

Well maintained old building and pub with lovely historic wonky features. Staff were helpful and kind and breakfast was à la carte which was nice - to have the choice. Thanks for looking after us!
I’m aware it’s not possible to install air conditioning since it’s a historic building but we were in the attic with smaller windows and even at 10pm and with an extra fan it was still well over 30 degrees up there. I mean they shut Stonehenge because it was too hot for visitors that day and worksites etc - I think there’s some work to be done in the UK towards standards in accommodation during summer. Not the fault of The Bear and ragged staff but it’s verging on unsafe to sleep in those conditions for people who are unused to it, particularly elderly and children.
