We stayed in the tower room, which is stunning and ever so romantic. The bed is a standard double, plenty big enough for two and very comfortable, and the design of the room is charming, with great views through 3 windows. We were actually woken (not too early!) by a peacock who apparently uses the room's little private roof terrace as one of his favourite perches. The staff are wonderful - nothing was too much trouble. They provide free beach towels. And breakfast was superb, including home made marmalade and excellent coffee. This short stay was one of the really memorable highlights of our holiday - we already want to come back.
There was really nothing not to like about this utterly charming room and fab hotel. It's a smaller room with no storage space for clothes apart from a few hangers on a rail, so if that's an issue for you be aware (it wasn't for us). And as with many hotels in Sri Lanka the bathroom was not completely private - but again, that didn't bother us (there are also private loos downstairs in the hotel if wanted).

Breakfast on the (very large) balcony, helpful and friendly staff (special shout out to Andrew, the Manager, who was very visible during our stay and personally helped our with some transportation), location in the fort, right next to the sea, packed-breakfast for our checkout day early start, afternoon tea.
Internet was weak when we arrived, but when we asked about this, they quickly fixed it, so really this wasn’t an issue at all. Apart from that, nothing could have been improved.

Wonderful hotel with an old world charm located exactly where you’d want to be by the wall in the old town. Staff were wonderful and the room perfect for our needs.
Small thing but a bar on site would be ideal so the top roof terrace could be used for sun downers.

The location was great and the staff were nice.
It looked completely different from the pictures, the room was tiny with a short bed, the curtains didn’t cover the windows properly, the bathroom had a glass door which meant turning on the light lid up the whole bedroom, it was super loud in the morning, the safe was not mounted onto the wall so one could just pick it up in theory.
Last but not least, they charged us a hefty 30 gbp tax which I we didn’t experience elsewhere in Sri Lanka at least at this high amount.
