Tiny paradise in the heart of Galle Fort

At 4 rooms, this is a tiny hotel that feels more like having your own private Villa and household staff. Shanikat and his team both provide excellent service and anticipate so many potential needs that it sometimes makes your trip planning feel obsolete (think candles, lunchboxes, and arranging travel). The interior spaces and courtyard are beautiful and invite you to spend your days lounging here. We enjoyed watching monkeys, lizards, and various birds in the garden. Chef Manjula and Sous Chef Lucky always impressed us with their cooking. Dining in was one of the best food experiences in town.

Perfect place for lounging, pampering and wandering about town

Splendid villa with spacious rooms, attentive staff and excellent food. Bed was very comfy and bathtub was a nice touch. lovely light. On arrival asked for jackfruit curry and they went 8 km outside town to find some and then prepared 6 different styles of jackfruit,..and served chilled fresh jackfruit next day. Also served tasty mangoes. 5 mn walk go to Lanka spa for fantastic massage. Masseur JM Eranga 51 PedlarSt..+94(0)714330663...TaxiGo Airport cabs very reliable and reasonable for trip to Galle...1 hr 45 mn drive ...24800 LKR including tolls...Francis the driver is great,,,fluent in English, knowledgeable and attentive. Fort Dew Inn next door has a nice rooftop restaurant/bar with excellent curries...made to order but worth the wait while gazing over seascape

Stunning villa with the best food!

Beautiful villa with an amazing garden. Wildlife including birds and monkeys in the trees! Staff were super friendly and helpful. Food is some of the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka, especially the Sri Lankan curry for breakfast. Perfect location for walking around Galle Fort and visiting the lighthouse

Perfect haven in the middle of the bustling fort

The exceptional staff who were so friendly and welcoming, the beautifully decorated room, the lush bedding, the cool pool, the delicious breakfasts. The oil burner in the room. The whole ambience. Late checkout.

The unfortunate dates that we chose because they clashed with noisy days at the school next door. Not the hotel’s fault, I know! I had to ask for the bathroom conditioner to be refilled as it was empty on arrival and the shower drain needed cleaning. These were promptly dealt with. Having to ring the bell to enter the hotel - the bell can be heard from the rooms. None of these caused us any trouble but for the price of the stay it’s worth considering how to improve upon these areas.

Exceptional

the colonial architecture and interiors were beautiful-the property in itself was just such a pleasure to be in. the staff was amazing! they were so polite and friendly, always willing to help us with whatever we needed! they tried their best to accommodate us at check out to be able to stay as long as possible (we had a late flight from Colombo) altought they had other guests arriving. the towels smell great and the food is really good too!

it was a perfect first night in Sri Lanka after a long difficult journey to get there

a beautiful house filled with lovely furniture. bedrooms were great and one of our rooms was upgraded. a most peaceful setting with a pool. although the pool was small it was surrounded by greenery and wildlife

absolute luxury!

this was the most beautiful property we stayed in Sri Lanka. the room and whole property were absolutely stunning and the staff couldn’t have done more for us, including the most delicious breakfast! a great location in galle, a short walk from everything. definitely recommend and would love to go back!

The perfect spot for a quiet break where you're looked after but still have your own space.

A beautiful haven, very calm and peaceful but close to all the good stuff at Galle Fort. The perfect sport to walk around then come back and relax. The pool was great and surrounded by greenery, plus monkeys, goannas, squirrels and birds. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the breakfast was amazing, served down by the pool. I stayed 2 nights and felt restored.

The balcony would have been the prefect place for a hammock! :)

Superb

fantastic location in Galle inside the fort walls. staff were amazing as well as the food. eggs Benedict is to die for. beautiful room and surroundings.

there are a lot of mosquitos. however they do provide lotion in the rooms free of charge and there are ceiling fans outside which help to blow them away. I also had repellant with me which helped.

The property is great. The French toast is seriously heavenly.

But the friendliness of staff and the manager could be better. They were helpful and attentive but mostly we felt like an obligation rather than guests. We were asked to order our breakfast the previous night and when we stated that we’d probably like to decide in the morning they insisted that we decided at night. Without an apology or explanation which is weird. Don’t think a manager of a luxury hotel needs to act like a headmaster of a school. Also at the time of booking we asked for a late checkout. Which was only an hour and a half later then mentioned checkout time. They said a family was arriving so they couldn’t accommodate us. However when we went to pick up our luggage the entire property was completely empty. No guests had arrived. So value for money is definitely a no here.

Could have been special but, given the price, felt let down by the experience

Beautiful room, nice breakfast

We were slightly taken back by how incredibly unhelpful and rude the manager was, given the relatively luxurious value proposition. This was totally out of sync with our general Sri Lanka experience and indeed the other hotel staff. Examples of his behaviour include: - Not proactively giving ANY information re additional activities and services on offer; this meant we didn’t find out the hotel offered bespoke dinners until Day 3 of 3 - Using guest services thereby preventing guests from using such amenities - the manager was napping in the guests’ TV lounge one evening watching cricket so we didn’t feel very welcome to use the room that evening - Would not offer breakfast on the table outside our room because a “table had already been set elsewhere” - it would’ve taken less than a minute to move) - Absolutely zero honeymoon welcome - incidentally, the only hotel in Sri Lanka that didn’t acknowledge the special occasion Seems like a liability for this particular hotel

wonderful and quiet Galle Fort oasis!

Honestly, what an amazing oasis in the middle of Galle Fort. Luxurious and attentive and very clean. Chamath and his team made us feel very at home and could not do enough to make our trip more wonderful.

Lovely historic villa in central Galle, with super service and delicious food.

Very well placed in Galle. Opposite grass and ramparts to sea. Short walk to the sights, shops and restaurants. Excellent breakfast served outside our room by the pool. Lovely fresh fruit beautifully presented, juice, tea and coffee and a selection of hot dishes. We ate lunch here on two days and it was also very good. The staff were charming and helpful.The room was clean and comfortable.

Beautiful old villa in the centre of Galle Fort

As with all Taru hotels, this is heavenly. The property is beautiful and secluded. The rooms are spacious and also very nice. The staff are lovely - especially the Manager - he was a very warm and welcoming man and has great service at the front of his mind.

At least in one of the rooms, you have to go the bathroom via the balcony which at night is not ideal. This also means the bathroom is highly exposed to bugs. Not the hotel’s fault as it’s an old colonial house but still a pain to consider when booking.

Taru Villas have several boutique properties and all have been beautifully decorated and have the highest quality furnishings. The staff and management are friendly, helpful and professional. You get a 5* from me for the quality of service. The food was delicious, especially the breakfast - eggs benedict. I would have no hesitation in recommending a stay at any of their properties and I will definitely stay at the Taru Villa properties again. Thank you!

Exceptional

We loved this boutique hotel. It was impossible to fault - everything was perfect. We stayed for three nights and ate an excellent rice and curry at the hotel for two of these nights. The service was excellent with a special mention for Chathura who was particularly helpful and charming.
