The property was straight out of a magical movie. The garden was amazing and the building was very beautiful and traditional. For a 120 year old building it was very clean and well kept. It has an old smell and since it’s right by the woods you will find some bugs which is expected and gave it the extra character. The staff went above and beyond to make this the best stay and it truly was. Food was absolutely amazing and very traditional. My kids tried everything and liked the majority of it. The 3 different onsens were amazing and much needed after a lots of walking. The hotel is conveniently located near Gora station, which made exploring the area very easy. Everyone in my family agreed that this was the best stay/ experience during our Japan trip. The staff was so helpful and welcoming. Amazing memories were made here!

My stay was excellent and exactly matched my expectation. I was looking for a place where it is cozy and allows me to fully experience traditional Japanese culture. This place is exactly that.

Lovely location surrounded by the garden. Outdoor hot spring on site. Truly felt we landed in a different era.
It needs some serious updating. We stayed in the villa, very spacious for our family, but likely not used often. The smell of mildew was overpowering and off putting. It got better after the 1st day so it needed to be aired before our stay.
