Even though the Van der Valk stikes me primarily as a business hotel, its atmosphere was amazingly warm.
We arrived a bit before our scheduled check-in time and the staff were so kind to store our luggage so we could grab a coffee in the hotel restaurant. In the hotel, everybody was welcoming.
The rooms were spacious and the amenities were very comfortable. I liked the bed, the TV, and the shower. It's nice that the hotel doesn't 'force' you to use a minibar – the fridge is empty for you to use, but if you prefer to have the minibar stocked, they'll arrange it for you.
I loved the sauna and the pool – both have a five-star feel to them.
The breakfast was a 10/10. Also, it was nice to have a 24/7 free coffee and tea service on the second floor.
The location isn't too bad either – of course, it's not in the city centre, but getting there is a 15-minute bus ride. Conveniently, the bus stop is located just outside the hotel.
The bathroom in our room didn't offer a lot of privacy – there's no door between the bathroom area and the rest of the room. Be sure you're comfortable with your travel partner.
Most of the locker rooms in the pool area didn't work – not a huge problem, but still something that would be nice to have.

The room 634 was magnificent, very user friendly, the bathroom was anexperience by itself, the staff was more than polite and helpful, their proxedures are absolutely comprehensible and easy to follow. I would hapilly return back.
Very hard question. I can't find something needing improvement. Oh... Yes...Though I understand the in house policy, 12.5 euros charge for room service it is quite hard to swallow. I see it isthere to protect abuse of the roomservice offer but If you need a vouple of coffees and there is a surcharge almost as high as the coffees themselves, it gets a bit weird.
