The Fosshotel Baron is located just east of Reykjavík’s main shopping area & west of Snorrabraut where you can catch the bus to the airport. The place occupies the corner of Baronsstigur & Skulgata. We booked a twin room through Booking.com & were placed on the 3rd floor with a window that looked into the interior parking area. The room was simple, akin to a dorm room with twin beds divided by a wooden desk by the window. Towels were placed on the beds & a kettle was provided for tea of coffee, a nice touch. A power bar mounted on the window frame offered European plugs & two USB ports, another important touch. There was a small, wardrobe across from the bathroom which featured a small toilet & sink & an awkward shower pan & awful shower curtain. While the room was spartan & simple it provided everything we needed & was just around the corner from a small 24 hour grocery store, Spar on Hvervisgata. While the hotel is showing its age, especially for the price we paid, its location allowed perfect access to all of Reykjavik’s highlights.

My friends were staying there. The price reasonable and the tour we took picked up at this hotel . The reception was friendly and helpful. You can buy breakfast
I thought it poorly lit. The bed is very comfortable but it’s the only place to sit. The shower door doesn’t close properly , There is no lotion. And some of the rooms were missing the refrigerator. There was no microwave. It wasn’t possible getting an early check in but they stored your luggage for you. We went there during the marathon so no taxis were available.
