We loved our time here. Lovely hotel, with a clean, spacious room. Great location, nice pool to escape the heat in. Karime was a massive help the entire time, lovely and always with a big smile. Recommend!

Centrally located and very helpful staff. I will definitely come back and stay here.
Given that the location is very central, self-parking was not available, but the hotel did have parking at a cost.

The day staff was very helpful and went out of her way to offer suggestions and get reservations. The bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean and functional. Breakfast in courtyard was very nice
Room lighting was odd. Quality of towels was marginal.

Merida is a large city with many large hotels. Casa Tavera is a small hotel in a perfect location, so you can choose based on your preferences. For us, the small hotel choice was the right choice. The staff was very welcoming and helpful; the rooms were spotlessly clean and airy; the breakfasts were made to order and delicious; and the management arranged for tours of the Mayan temples, the cenotes, and the haciendas of the sisal barons. The air conditioning worked very well, which is important in that area. The pool is small but refreshing after a long day in the sun. Although the owner is not on the property always, we were fortunate and had lots of informative interactions with her. The location was ideal for walking to either a broad boulevard that has museums and a lot of restaurants or a major street in the opposite direction that had the cathedral, a major plaza, and more restaurants. We had a great time and would definitely return.
We stayed in the huge Presidential Suite, and its only drawback was an occasional lapse of the hot water in the shower.
