Felt traditional and that we were taken back in time. This Ryokan is very centrally located and only a few minutes walk from the train station. We were also able to take the train to a nearby beach town for an afternoon to explore (pictured). The chef creates dinners that are 11 courses of beautifully prepared and authentic Japanese cuisine. Breakfasts (pictured) are equally as beautiful and filling! The staff are extremely gracious and helpful. It gave us a small Inn vibe and felt intimate.

Ryiokan easy to find, at ten minutes by foot from Kinosaki station.

The kaiseki dinner was an absolute Michelin star experience. An equal match, and possibly superior to the 5-star onsen we stayed afterwards. The rooms was comfortable even if a little outdated, but the hosts prepared very comfortable futons (three in thinkness I suppose to suit the Western tastes) and we slept like never before. Tucked away quiet location.
I would recommend to provide more detailed instructions on the onsen etiquette upon arrival.
