Excellent: super clean, comfy room, perfect bathrooms with good showers. Lovely large living room with plenty of sofas and tons of local books and papers to read. Kitchen is amazing: you have everything, is very well organised and has a lot of space. Atmosphere is great, couple who runs is is ideal: efficient, organised and very friendly. You basically feel at home. Honestly: a million times better than the a bit rundown decadent o repriced hotels on the island. Better this hostel that is at least genuinely, honest and extremely well kept. By the way you can have dinner next door on a seafood restaurant (I would recommend it: over several days had islay grown oysters, lobsters, langoustines, salads — it was all good). Stay at this hostel! You can even keep your bike in a dedicated space and car parking is private. Can’t be better.
Nothing. You need a car or bike but it is not because of the hostel. The island is quite large.

Islay is wonderful and the hostel is a great way to stay there for a reasonable cost. The managers of the hostel are very friendly and provided a lot of local advice. The drying room is great for any wet clothes and gear. Really well equipped kitchen and facilities.
You are able to catch the local bus just down the road from the hostel to take you around the island.
Nothing, it was all good.
