Fantastic home with yard on Thames
About this house rental
Nestled in Newport, this lovely house for $730 per night is a great option for your next break. Araminta on Thames "Minty" is an updated and spacious vacation home located on Thames Street. Great spot for large groups (but no rowdy parties, sorry). 4 bedrooms + extra comfy twin cot for 9th guest. 1st floor master bedroom and bath. Kitchen table seats 8. Two family rooms. 2 1/2 bathrooms. Private backyard with fire pit, she shed and lighted gazebo. Enclosed front porch w/seating for morning coffee. Perfect location...Walking distance to shops, restaurants, parks & mansions. Parking: Our guests park directly on Thames right in front of the house but if there are more than 2 cars then it will not be easy to find free parking. There are many lots that offer overnight and/or 24 hour parking. Newport is exceptionally busy in season and parking is limited so best to car pool whenever possible.

Experience in the house with my friends was fabulous! I was able to communicate with Karina as often as I needed and she was always available. There were six of us and the bedrooms were large, comfortable, clean and cozy! Our power did go out one night but that unfortunately has to do with air conditioning units being on, and I also would imagine CPAP machines! Lol. It was a great location less than a mile from town and on a beautiful day you could probably walk or ride your bike there. I would recommend this wonderful home to a group of people or family!

My family, including several generations, stayed in this home for the weekend while in town for a wedding. The home was clean, beds were comfortable, and it had everything we needed. The owners were helpful and responsive. It's a beautiful home.

The property manager was great and responded promptly. The house was fine for our use. It could’ve used a few things to make it more comfy, such as throw blankets. The kitchen chairs were very uncomfortable. The chairs are all metal and made hanging around the table not fun. The backyard, while usable could use some improvement. The table and outdoor chairs were great for hanging out and there was a nice canopy. The lunge chairs were ok. The fire pit is unusable.

We had a great time at this house! We had two families, both with small children and there was room for all of us. Great location for getting places in town too! The host was very responsive to our questions as well.

Exactly what was advertised!
Our group of four friends enjoyed our stay very much. The weather was hot, but the individual room air conditioners made it very comfortable. The host was very friendly and quick to communicate with. We would definitely stay at Araminta on Thames again if we visited Newport.

Perfect spot for a group!
My friends and I stayed here for 3 days when we came to Newport for a wedding and it was perfect. We were a group of 4 couples and 1 other friend and the space worked well for all of us. All the beds were comfortable, including the 1 person cot which is in one of the bedrooms. The sheets & blankets were so great we even asked the host where she gets them ha! There was an abundance of linens, towels and kitchen needs like glassware, plates & silverware. We all really enjoyed the backyard space and the sun room at the front of the house was perfect place to drink coffee in the morning. The location was stellar. A lot of easily accessible stores and cafes. The host is very communicative and made sure we were enjoying our stay. She even checked in on us after a huge storm that knocked out power on the block but luckily we didn’t lose electricity. I definitely recommend this property if you’re visiting Newport. It was a beautiful home and had everything we needed.

We had a great stay communication was great very quick and responsive. The house was clean and as advertised. Well appointed. The yard is awesome. Neighborhood is great and quiet but you are not far from all the restaurants and bars.

Girls weekend
Stayed here over the weekend with a group of 8 girlfriends and we were so impressed with this house. Plenty of room for everyone. Very clean throughout the house and the backyard is so well maintained and a fun spot to hangout. We loved our stay here!!!

Wonderful escape for a few days!
Our family lives in RI but wanted to be tourists in Newport for a few days. The house is in a perfect location to be able to walk to everything on Thames and the surrounding areas. The house was immaculate and had everything we could possibly need. Karena was so nice and proactively let us know about events that were happening during our stay. Excellent communication and rental experience!

The house was perfect for a getaway weekend with friends. The bedrooms were all good sized and everyone felt comfortable. The backyard was great to hangout in. Lastly the location was perfect for walking to downtown. The property manager was very helpful, especially with parking.

We had a wonderful weekend at the Araminta with immediate family. The location was perfect, the host great with communication and the home perfect for us and our children

Great house and location
Great 4-bdr house located at the end of Thames street. We loved being able to walk to almost everything we wanted to do in Newport. Coffee and breakfast are steps away, shopping and beach are fun healthy but walkable distance. Great open backyard. House is redone and very clean. Parking was easy right out in front of the house. Would rent here again.

Too small of a place
The pros:
-- The check-in process was easy
-- The Italian restaurant right next door is fantastic - highly recommend
-- About a 20 min walk to Cliff Walk.
-- The patio / backyard was nice.
The cons:
-- The house is a lot older than the pictures make it look.
-- Except for the bedroom downstairs the 3 bedrooms upstairs are super small, way smaller than pictures make them look.
-- The 1/2 bath downstairs is literally under the stairs in a cupboard.
-- We found several flies and a spider in the house.
Overall it was just o.k., it was livable'ish but just be aware of the much older house / furniture / small bedrooms.
