Excellent location, a good base for seeing the rest of the island. The rooms were simple but had everything we needed. The lagoon / sea at the back of the property was perfect to relax in at the end of the day.

I stayed at Hostal La Savina twice about 30 years ago, Formentera and a lot has changed a lot since then. The hotel has improved considerably with lovely seating area and although the room i had was small it was clean and nicely decorated. We stayed for 10 days but found this once tranquil island now spoilt by tourism. Mainly Italians ( apparently the Italian football team stayed on Formentera and made it famous in Italy ) It seemed ironic the environment is the primary focus with many restrictions - yet ferries arrive by the hour off loading crowds of day trippers. There are now more car and moped rental shops than restaurants - the Hostal a least has only changed in interior decor and the small beach along side the lagoon is still nice although it should be noted that it is a public beach and used by school trips. We were unable to sit on the loungers and beds provided by the hotel on two occasions when the Beach was taken over by around 30 loud school children. There were often day trippers using the facilities and it did sometimes feel less like a hotel and more like a public restaurant bar - in fact we were unable to eat in the restaurant one night because it was closed for a private function - there was also a children’s birthday party held there. I understand that it’s a business but it did feel that guests were almost an add on. Formentera is now one of the most expensive places in Europe to holiday - food was very expensive - a small pizza 27 euro in one of the restaurants in the port. We found better options in San Francisco and Es Pujols avoid the port and higher prices. We ended up leaving and spending 2 days in Ibiza for better food and facilities. I will remember the quiet sleepy island of empty beaches from the past and will not be returning. :(
A little more customer service - a hello , good morning would be nice . No tourist information ( maps etc) we tried to get info for the bus and the male receptionist was unhelpful. 2 cartons of water in the fridge were all that were provided for the first day - it costs very little to give water every day and most hotels do it. The same with pastries left from the breakfast, I was offered one and then charged for it. Again most hotels leave some out as complimentary. Room was small with a shelf that stuck out from the wall on one side of the bed I caught myself on it more than once. Sharp corner on the shower tray. The pump on the shower gel was broken the whole time.

Very charming and attractive with grest ambience. Lovely position. Very nice little beach location. Sea was clean and enticing. Good food and nice restaurant.

Location and late check in as I arrived almost at midnight.
