Unsafe and unhelpful staff

Close to the location I work

I was given the wrong room key and was able to access someone else’s room and this did not make me feel safe, the staff where not helpful and didn’t take this safety breach seriously

Very nice only spoilt by the customer service in the restaurant particularly in the evening.

Breakfast was good and the restaurant was lovely, with a great view.

Ok but pushing it to cal it 4*

Location. Size of room. Bathroom. Free drinks in club room.

Took too long to check in - I was waiting 10 mins. When i tried to complain no one was interested. No sky sports in the room. I have stayed there regularly for several years and have seen the facilities diminish.

This is not a 5 star hotel and most definitely not a 5 star experience, 2 stars at best!

Some of the staff were really nice.

Nothing about the experience was 5 star and that’s putting it lightly. Extremely disorganised. - The most outrageous part was having a mouse casually walk on our feet while we were in the hotel lounge having a drink! Giving a couple of us have extreme phobia this was traumatic to say the least! The hotel offered a refund for the cheapest night which wasn’t the night of the rat. - Breakfast service was poor and all over the place. - Room service took forever, a couple of times we forgot we ordered room service by the time they showed up and once we were asleep. - The spa was dirty and outdated, don’t believe the pictures! With clusters of hair everywhere. It was manky to say the least. Spa staff not present and inattentive when present. Probably gets cleaned once a day if that! Added a couple of those pictures - The cleaner showed up to clean with a bucket of cleaning products and a rag. There was no hoovering involved just the toilet and surfaces which didn’t feel much different to be honest especially for a « 5 star »

Disappointing

Clean

Unfortunately we couldn’t use the spa as fully booked which is why we had booked this hotel. Plus we left something in the room which was apparently not there and therefore never returned. We paid a lot of money and a real disappointment

Ok, not worth the money but good location.

Location was good and the rooftop bar was nice

We were put in a disabled room which has a wet room so the whole bathroom was soaking. Needed shoes or barefoot to go in for the rest of the day. Staff in the spa not helpful. Checkout took ages, no facility to just drop keys off so a massive queue. Lots of people complaining.

Great experience to be remembered!

Location, cleanliness and breakfast. Phenomenal attitude when we said that we have an anniversary. Our room was decorated in a lovely way. Unforgettable!

Overall good. I would not give it 5 start, but 4 for sure

Recommended to all, fab hotel in a great are of London!

Underfloor heating in the bathroom was great! The vibe of the hotel and room was awesome and you couldn’t hear any neighbour or corridor noise. The breakfast was fab! As was the roof top igloo.

If I had to be picky, the pillows on the bed weren’t that good.

Eccellente e sopra ogni aspettativa!

Letto comodissimo, pulizia eccellente, camera dotata di ogni comfort e posizione ottima per chi arriva da Liverpool street con lo Stansted express. Non abbiamo provato la colazione, ma la proposta sembrava ottima!

Nightmare at a 5-star hotel!!!

The property is old with inefficient lighting and appliances. The control tablets in the rooms (note that we had a couple of rooms for the family) were not functional. The property calls for renovation.

Fantastic stay in the heart of London

Excellent hotel in a fantastic location in London, with great, friendly and professional staff. I must say, the staff was a high point for me, we had a mix up with another Montcalm property and they were very helpful. Nice furniture and atmosphere, very happy with the stay overall, and excellent value for money. Would happily return

The mattresses were a bit old with indentations in them. I believe they are due for a change which luckily is quite easy to fix, but nevertheless should be done to earn a full 10. Only issue I could find so still a great stay overall

Bon sejour au montcalm royal

L'hotel propose de très belle prestation, il dispose d'un bon rapport qualité prix, nous avons apprécier le restaurant et bar en rooftop magnifique vue, les bulles sont agréables en cosy en hiver et les plats sont délicieux, nous y avons passée de bons moment. Petit plus pour le early check in proposé par la réception qui fait beaucoup de bien quand on arrive tot et épuisé. Merci

La chambre un peu petite, le petit déjeuner inclus ne vaut pas le cout selon moi nous n'avons pas regretter de ne pas l'avoir pris au finale

Good location with a lovely restaurant

Location is great. The bar and restaurant are very good. Coffee was good. Love the olive trees.

The reception staff didn’t seem overly friendly. I had a ‘deluxe’ room but I’m not really sure it was, plus it was next to the lift which was quite noisy. The hotel overall was extremely hot and uncomfortable. I was asked to pay a deposit of a further £50, not really sure why. I had paid for the room in full.

Meraviglioso, oltre alle aspettative

Hotel vicino alla stazione di Liverpool Street (a piedi meno di 5 minuti). Staff eccezionale e camera stupenda. Una mattina abbiamo fatto colazione in hotel per provarla e siamo rimasti entusiasti. Sicuramente la colazione risulta essere cara ma la qualità dei prodotti e il servizio sono veramente eccezionali, consigliatissima! Torneremo sicuramente qui la prossima volta che organizzeremo un viaggio a Londra.

Amazing lovely hospitality the best I have had in London.

Very good and good range of food

The temperature of the room was cold and the thermostat kept resetting to cold. However I did not have the time to ask site team for help. I am sure they would have sorted this out.

Great location, but the hotel is taking too many shortcuts

The location is great; the building is beautiful. It has a nice bar, and the views from the restaurant are lovely. The staff at the front desk were great, very well-informed and very helpful. The bathrooms are well done and well-equipped.

The restaurant food at The Aviary was disappointing. There has clearly been a lot of investment in high-quality equipment in the kitchen, but it was let down by the quality of produce served: kind of bland, chewy meat (one of us had steak; one lamb), stuff like that. A great grill, but poor quality meat. A member of staff outside of the reception seemed a little bit clueless, ended up telling me there wasn't any breakfast (which I'd paid for), and said it was room-service only (it wasn't). He ordered a room service breakfast to my room for me, which ended up not actually getting submitted and never arrived anyway. (By this point, I'd found the included breakfast, but he didn't know that...) The room was good, but we felt it was lacking attention-to-detail (the ironing board was broken, some electricity outlets didn't work, one of the bedside lights was flickering, there are marks on the walls and scuffs in the wallpaper). It's the type of place that feels nice at first glance, but a lot of shortcuts are being taken.

Rude staff

Bedrooms were cosy

Stayed here for my dads 65th birthday. He’s had multiple operations on his back over the past 10 years which limits him to sitting on hard chairs only. We went to the rooftop hotel bar for 1 drink before heading out. The bar had a nice vibe and the restaurant was pretty empty. When we asked the manager could we take one seat from the restaurant to the bar she said no as it ruined appearance. We’ve done this for years and it’s the first time someone has said no. She showed zero empathy, we were baffled. When does appearance become more important than customers, especially when there’s a disability involved? She told us we would have to sit in the (empty) restaurant if he wanted to use that seat. I’ve never experienced worse hospitality, and hopefully never will.

My time at Montcalm

I liked how the hotel is close to a lot of amenities and is located in a quiet place. I really appreciated how big the bathroom was and the little mini bar they stock up in your room.

It stated sound proof but I could still hear my next door neighbours and outside noise. Room service was a bit too much, the cleaners came 3-4 times a day, making it hard for someone to get a quality sleep.The AC is not strong, and requires a longer duration before the room could heat up or cool up. The bed was a bit rough, even though I requested for a queen size mattress, I was given 2 separate mattress combined which made it hard for me to sleep properly everyday.

Toujours un plaisir d’aller à Londres

L’emplacement est idéal avec deux stations de métro à 5 à pieds. La salle de bain moderne. Lumières au dessus du lit de couleurs.

Deux lits simple. La qualité du room service n’est pas au niveau du standing de l’hôtel ni du prix payé.
