This is one hostel I keep coming back to because it's well maintained. The location and the room are strong reasons to come back. No other hostel in Queenstown is as well maintained as this one
There's nothing I really didn't like. One thing I'd suggest as a room for improvement is the kitchen - instead of using tea towels to dry the utensils, I'd prefer an alternative solution, because most of the time, utensils taken out of storage still have water on them and aren't dried correctly

The location lakefront and in town centre was great.
The staff / people on working-holiday visas etc were always helpful.
The aesthetic and the vibe are cool.
The bunk beds are extremely narrow. If you’re a broad guy, you can barely lie comfortably on your back, especially when using the power outlets right next to your pillow. Because the space is so cramped, my charging cable kept getting unplugged during the night, and I repeatedly woke up to find that my phone or power bank hadn’t charged at all.
There is also no proper workspace for people who need to work on their laptops. There’s a tiny corner in the TV room with space for one person, but realistically you can’t concentrate there while people next to you are chatting, watching movies, playing guitar, etc. The only other option is the tiny kitchen, which is equally unsuitable: there are no free power outlets, and people are obviously cooking and eating right next to you. In general, the entire hostel feels very cramped, including the common areas and even the corridors.
Besides the lack of a proper workspace, another major drawback for anyone who works while travelling was the laundry situation. There was no option to pay by card — you literally needed coins to use both the washing machine and the dryer. As an international traveller without New Zealand cash, this effectively meant having to withdraw money from an ATM and pay hefty fees on a European bank card. I ended up spending the equivalent of around €20 just to wash and dry one load of clothes. Even in the Australian desert, I found a completely cashless laundromat where a wash cost around $5. A coin-only laundromat in New Zealand in 2026? Is this 1994?
