Au Coeur d'Hanoi Lakeside Hotel

Close to everytjing, great location, good breakfast, very helpful staff

The design feels outdated.

THE STAFF! Complements to the entire staff here for making sure that we had a great stay here. Before we arrived Hanoi, Marie already contacted us in Whatsapp if you need transport from the airport as well as arranging day trips from the hotel. We stayed here for 2 nights prior to our overnight trip to Trang An before re-checking in, and they stored our big luggage for us and we only brought one small trolley to bring our stuff to the motorcycle rental which we forgot to claim there when we returned the bikes. BIG THANK YOU to Ms. Marie and Ms. Nana for helping us get our bag from them on our last night prior to leaving for the airport (because we only remembered 4 hrs before we were leaving that night and the rental would close in 30mins). So instead of me riding a Grab Car to Tay Ho at the start of evening rush hour, they arranged a rider to bring the bag to the hotel, and I was able to keep my promise to my son we would do Train Street as our last thing to do in Hanoi before we left for the airport at 8pm. They also for secured our rental scooters on their sidewalk frontage by chaining them together to the staff's scooters at night for extra security! THE LOCATION: The location near Hoan Kiem lake was superb, just one block away from the Water Puppet Theater, and Ngoc Son Temple/Red Bridge. While being in the Old Quarter (weekend night area pedestrian exclusive zone), it is far away from the madness and noise when we stayed there on Sunday night. It is close to their main boulevard bus stop (about three blocks/5mins) so very easy to get to Bus Tours meeting points, this also makes it easy to get in and out of the Old Quarter if you opt to use a scooter to explore the rest of the city.

Rooms are on the small side, but this is expected since you are in the Old Quarter District (so like Europe historic city centers as well). Rooms are generally tidy but just need a little bit more vacuuming up on the sills, and blinds as well as the smoke detectors as a lot of dust have collected there on all the rooms we stayed on. Breakfast was ok but a bit monotonous if you stay longer than 2 days, but since the rooms were not expensive, we can just skip it any choose any cafe beside it for variety (and there were plenty)! Be prepared if you are arriving there on the weekend, make sure you arrive before evening or your transport will have a hard time getting you to the hotel because of the vehicle ban, fortunately though they are the edge of it, and the police will let you in if they say you are guest of the hotel.
