Pyrgos Blue is simply flawless. Family-run with warmth, joy and generosity, it is undoubtedly among the most welcoming, relaxing, and beautiful yet entirely unpretentious hotels one could ever hope to find. It is tucked right up against the shore so you can enjoy the meditative crashing of the waves whilst lounging by the pool with a book and drink in hand, and just a 10-15 minute walk from the old town and Potamos beach via the marina (Central Malia beach is just a couple minutes away if you prefer a slightly busier vibe). Our room (Seaview with Jacuzzi) was perfectly situated on the top floor with stunning views of the coastline and sunset, and kept impeccably clean every day by the fantastic housekeeping team. The rain shower, heavenly bed, useful amenities and cosy, crisp linens were perfect. It was spacious and expertly designed for two people to enjoy a weeklong stay. The menu at the restaurant nestled between the pool and the sea was both diverse and delicious. From breakfast to dinner and all the snacks in between, the quality, creativity and presentation of the dishes was consistently excellent. We enjoyed visiting the little tavernas in the old town but in the end, it was our favourite spot to dine. It was hard not to shed a tear upon leaving. We got to know some of the other guests at the hotel and it's no wonder many return year after year. It is truly a special gem in a beautiful, inviting corner of the world and I miss it already.

Pyrgos Blue was absolutely perfect. It has an idyllic seafront location, beautiful surroundings and such a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere—exactly what we wanted from our holiday.
The accommodation and pool area are immaculate, the food is excellent, and everything feels thoughtfully maintained. What really makes Pyrgos Blue special, however, is the staff. Everyone was incredibly warm, welcoming and attentive, and they made us feel completely at home throughout our stay.
It is a wonderful place to switch off and relax while still being close enough to enjoy Malia and the Old Town. We genuinely could not fault it and were very reluctant to leave.
Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable stay. We will definitely be back!

Modern, comfortable bedroom, very nice shower and good sea view.
The experience does not match the price. When you’re paying a more premium rate for a room, you do expect a higher standard which unfortunately we did not get. We booked the high spend room with the jacuzzi, expecting this to be ready for our arrival at check in, however, we had to wait 7 hours for it to heat up to a nice temperature which was not cold. From experience, I know that jacuzzis can take 3-8 hours to heat up to the optimum temp, which is why I messaged the hotel in advance to ask if this could be done before we arrived - but they ignored the message and did not respond.
When we got to the room, I asked the woman working on the reception how long it would take to get to the temp they had set it at and she said half an hour which wasn’t the case at all. This resulted in us paying a for something we could hardly use so it seemed like such a waste.
The room also includes a coffee machine which is great, however they did not provide any pods for it so we couldn’t use this either which was a shame.
If we were not paying so much for the room (£120 per night) we wouldn’t have minded as much but with premium prices you expect better quality and attentive staff.
When I mentioned about the jacuzzi when checking out to the staff, she just replied saying “it was warm when I touched it” and “it just depends on the weather”. She didn’t apologise or take any responsibility for something which could have been sorted prior to us arriving…
