A traditional Japanese hotel with an onsen and delicious dinner. Very well organised and helpful friendly staff.

This place is the only one directly facing the lake (all other inns have the main road in between), providing an unobstructed view of lovely Lake Chusenji from the room. One sleeps on futons over the tatami floor. The hotel is quite old but well maintained. The all-women staff is cheerful and pleasant, but communication has to be slow. Breakfast and dinner is cooked freshly upon order, all Japanese cuisine. One uses spa robes for dining which are provided in the room. There is an extra "family onsen" for two, which can be booked on a first-come basis: it's small, hot and highly sulfurous. The bus terminal for the bus to Nikko is at walking distance, but the bus frequency is only hourly. This gives enough time to walk a bit further to Kegon Falls, Japan's second highest.
Other than the fact that this is a bit old and basic there was nothing not too like, as long as one likes Japanese food and doesn't mind sleeping traditional Japanese style.

Our package included set menu breakfast and dinner. They were accommodating with my pescatarian diet. The food was incredibly fresh and so tasty. It was nice having everything right there in the hotel. After our bike ride around the lake, we enjoyed the onsen. It is separate men's and women's. I loved that they had yukatas and clothing available for us to use.
My husband didn't feel like any of the chairs were supportive so he struggled relaxing in our room.

The view of the room is unbeatable and you can see Mt. Fuji outside your window.
The hotel facilities are kind of old. It didn't fully meet my expectations with the price I paid. But it's understandable that the hotels in this area are overpriced, given the location.
