We very much appreciated the upgrade to the premium suite. The room was beautiful, exceptionally spacious. The complimentary bottle of cava was also appreciated. There were, however, several disappointing elements for a hotel and room of this calibere. We were disappointed not to have the option of air conditioning available. With daily temperatures in the mid 20's the bedroom, even at night, was far too hot. Sleeping with the balcony doors open and the windows resulted in mosquitoes in the room. Reception informed us that they had removed the opportunity to have a cooler room at this time of year. The noise from the Line Dancing convention in the neighbouring hotel was exceptionally loud. The quality of the bathroom towels did not reflect the premium room.
For the first 2 nights of our stay we were almost the only guests in the hotel. This made the dining experience somewhat strange. The cooking stations were serving a limited
range of pre-cooked food in the evening. We felt as though we were disturbing the staff. Our final evening saw a greater number of people. However, the food was disappointing. Breakfast choices on the first 2 days were exceptional however the arrival of lots of guests on our 3rd morning resulted in the disappearance of the smoked salmon, the caviar with vodka or cava and the pancakes. The focus of all the meals was entirely orientated to the imminent body building convention !
Having a hotel to yourself comes with advantages but also disadvantages. Our stay lacked atmosphere and whilst an Adults Only hotel sounds fabulous it was disappointing. We have stayed at other hotels in Santa Susanna in the past, including one of the
same group and we feel for any future visits, this particular hotel will not be at the top
of our selection list.
