Underwhelming.

Bed was excellent. Room was clean. Location was good. House was once a grand property.

Shared bathrooms—seemed to be a lot of guests for two bathrooms. Original room I was offered appeared to be a modified garage in the back yard, not in the passcode-protected main house. A late night trip to the bathroom would require shoes and a coat. There was a partition wall at one side of the room that didn’t reach the ceiling. Storage on the other side? Another access? Surely that arrangement doesn’t meet code. For an extra $10 the room I ended up in was in the house and was fine. But the whole experience made me feel less like a guest, more like an income opportunity.

Good spot if you want a good location at a decent price and aren't too fussy about other things.

The location is just a short walk from a Canada Line station, maybe 5 minutes? The price was great too, and even more of a deal because of the short walk. It's also a 7 million dollar mansion apparently, and there's marble and wood everywhere. Wifi was fine. Checking in was easy, as was checking out. The people running the place were friendly.

The room had glass doors covered with cardboard. The doors had a large gap between the door and the floor. There was little to no privacy soundwise. Also, the toilet brush hadn't been cleaned recently, and there were no paper towels in the bathroom. The room itself had no trash bin. There was a TV that didn't work.

Don't stay in the front basement bedroom...

Well....the temp. Was set in room at 26 degrees. Stifling....thermostat didn't work....when I told owner he said..open a window...basement room. Window was above my height....then the smell of sewage permeated in my room when anyone used the washroom upstairs.....garbage in kitchen was full when I arrived and remained the whole week...gate didn't lock....

GORGEOUS HOUSE

GORGEOUS house!! Very decorative. Feels like you are staying in a museum. Great location, walking distance to the botanical garden. The host was friendly and responsive.

Vancouver, but not on a budget...

The area it is. Handy to trains and buses, which were very frequent. The owner was very helpful for us without a phone... WiFi good.

Stairs. Tooooo many stairs. No demarcation for owners and guests... Signs of separation would be good for guest understanding of what is expected of them. Had to fix a toilet and shower upstairs no go, meaning trips up and down...

Was neither above nor below our expectations. Nothing crazy, not the ritz.

The staff were really great - they met us at the door and showed us to our rooms, answered all of our questions, etc. The rooms were private (keys on doors that you could take with you), and you had access to a fridge to store your food in, which was cool. The location was also great - very safe, good public transit, close to some really great parks and cafes.

The house was overall very "lived-in", which is to be expected from a shared spaced, but it was a bit discomforting to see other people's mess sometimes... One of the fridges was pretty messy, for example. It was also slightly annoying to share the bathroom with so many other guests. It seemed clean enough, but having to wait for showers every morning was a struggle. I suggest adding another bathroom (for the basement, anyways), or a shower sign-up sheet.

Would not stay again

It was close to the train station so easy to arrive from the airport and head into the city

On arrival late at night the owner tried to up sell us to another room. We were then given a different room than what we booked. We were given a space in a car garage with a very poor bed and bedding. The dishes in the shared kitchen were a bit dirty as well as the shower - all of which was in the house (not garage which we were in).

Not Luxury, fair refund, full of spiders

Fast and fair refund, good location

Owner changed location of the house last minute, house full of big spiders, beds are mattresses on the floor so spiders can climb up, the other option was sofa bed... so sofa bed or matress on floor. We arrived very late so we didnt have any choice and could not find other stay for the second night, we found a hotel the last night so we asked for refound and they agree.

Nice stay and would like to revisit.

Very nice and helpful host. Quiet community and easy to walk or train/bus to everywhere. Beautiful house and garden

The downstairs wash sink is too high for children to use. The mobile signal in one downstairs room is not ideal.

Great value stay for 1 - 2 nights with easy access to Vancouver

Paid extra for a very large room on Willow Street, with large en-suite for $15 above the booking.com price. Location was quiet and across from a small park 5-6 minutes walk to the king Edward subway, so downtown in 20 minutes. Uber taxi about $14 to centre of Vancouver. Great value considering cheapest hotels in Vancouver were asking double cost for a smaller room. Great communications from the owner.

The pillows are ready for replacing, they seem old and a bit lumpy. Other guests arrived at 23:50 and kept us awake for 20-30 minutes. The owner cannot be blamed for inconsiderate guests however and this is always a risk with cheaper option “shared accommodations” Owner phoned next day to apologise.

Ok and convenient but don't expect too much

Very convenient location to get to town and the airport and relatively cheap for Vancouver. The house is overall very nice too.

The place in general : the room was good and the place was nice. It was great having a kitchen and facilities available.

The kitchen was not very clean. To be more precise, the utensils, pans etc were not clean. To be fair that does not depend on the owner and more on the other residents.

Enjoyed staying at a place that’s more like a home to relax in than a hotel. There’s living room, kitchen, dining area to share, able to do laundry, and host always ready to respond and interacting to the extent depending how much you like interacting with.

Will not return

Good price and good location.

Property is not well maintained - trash outside/front yard, bedding not comfortable, facility and amenities felt run down and not well maintained, host not very friendly and very noisy. Had to request different pillows and towels, no welcoming direction given.

Bit strange to be moved to another place upon arrival.Why not give the suggestion on Booking?

The location is great, not too far (10 min walk) to Transit station. Nice parks around the corner, also the Botanic Garden. Just a 10 minutes train(=metro) ride to Downtown. We had the large bedroom with large private bathroom, after paying the extra CAD10 per night. We think that was worth it, giving the fact that the other bathroom must be used by I think 4 other couples. The bed is large and comfortable, maybe a little soft.

The cleanliness is bad. The shower has a lot of stains, some mould and thick soaprests. The metal window pane”cutters) are dirty, with mould too. Curtains very thin, worn out with little holes. Stains on the staircase carpet. As mentioned by other quests in the reviews, the owner is a bit too pushy, immediately after we entered the house (in Ash St) he suggested to bring us to another house, bigger, closer to the Train (not).

Poor

I liked the fact that I needn't to spend that night outdoor. The room was warm and had WiFi access, towels were clean.

A few hours before check-in I was informed that, because of some technical problems, we wouldn't be able to stay at place we booked. I understand that always something might happened BUT I didn't like in what way the problem was solved. We got a new address and two options: we were offered a room with the same price (after arrival we foud out that room had been already busy) or another 'better' apartment for additional charge! Finally we stayed there (without paying additionally) but it was dirty, no fresh bedding, water only in a bath (no water in the shower or washbasin). Total chaos and miscommunication.

The blanket was shedding like crazy. If i had an allergy it would have been terrible. But overall it was ok
