Bed is up stairs if your old might be a problem. That’s the bad. The good is the location. Within a mile of everything. Place was clean. I guess flea’s came from a guest that wasn’t supposed to have pets.

First the good: The property itself is a charming and cute cottage, with accurate photos. Check in was easy, and the location near Forsyth Park and historic Savannah is an ideal place to stay away from the noise and bustle of the center of downtown. It is an easy walk to downtown and also to a grocery store. Parking was also easy. There was a bug infestation at the time of my stay, so I would advise future bookers to check with the property to see if the issue has been taken care of. When I arrived, I counted 87 dead flies (that I could see) all throughout the cottage, mainly in the front area near the windows and the bathroom, but also on the kitchen counters, in drawers, and in the bed. It was as if a bug bomb had just been set off. I contacted the property company and they immediately had maintenance and housekeeping return to the cottage to address the issue and to re-clean the entire property and replace the linens. When I returned home that night, the place looked clean with only a couple of flies still buzzing around. However by the next morning there were over 25 more dead flies all around and many small baby flies jumping around on the drying towels, floor mat. It seemed like they were living/coming from the bathroom and the tub jets. I notified the front desk again who attempted to have maintenance come out to look at the issue again, but an emergency came up (it was a holiday weekend) and they were not able to come out. I was informed that because of the level of infestation, a stronger treatment would be needed to be performed after I had checked out because it wouldn't be safe to inhabit the cottage with the chemicals. I knew to expect some bugs when visiting Savannah, especially in September during a humid month, but this level of infestation was unsanitary. As a result, I spent most of my time away from the cottage and eventually made other arrangements to sleep elsewhere, as it didn't feel hygenic. I ended up checking out a day early rather than having to deal with all of the flies and the cleanup on my own again. Even with this issue, I was impressed with the Lucky Savannah guest services team (Katrin, Candace, and Jamillah) and their communication and commitment to addressing the issue. My trip was severely disrupted by this experience, and thankfully I was able to get refunded since this issue really negatively impacted my whole vacation. I appreciated that they were so understanding, courteous, and communicative.

Very clean apart from a couple of dead cockroaches. Must remember it was built 150+ years ago. Plenty of space and kitchen was very well equipped. Washer and drier were a great plus. Courtyard was very cute too. We were fine with the upstairs bedroom, in fact found it enjoyable. However, we could not take our suitcases to the bedroom, too awkward and heavy, but didnt bother us. This location may not suit those with ambulatory issues. Location was fine, nice quiet street, and parking was not really an issue. Was a little difficult getting out of car and across to cottage, as the pathway next to road was lined with lots of tall grass and weeds, with only one small path location to walk to pavement. The main downtown area was certainly walkable, about 15 to 20 minutes. Loved Savannah, so much to see and experience. Great history. Great riverboat trip and loved the trolley tour. Hop on and off was a nice option. We would definitely revisit, and probably use the cottage again.

I spent just shy of one week at this location. It was within one mile of the downtown area. I found plenty of good food within walking distance, and it has a Kroger grocery store about 1/4 mile away. My stay at this home was enjoyable.

Love, love, LOVE Savannah and all of the history and vibe of this old city! All of the old houses, stores, restaurants and bars, were awesome! And the FOOD in Savannah is GREAT! One of our FAVORITE cities in America! And this house was in a quiet neighborhood. It was so adorable, tastfully decorated and renovations we’re nice. Loved the loft bedroom, just wish it was a little bigger. I’d hit my head a couple times on the slanted/vaulted ceiling. Otherwise it was a cute, clean place & would gladly stay there again.

This was a perfect location to enjoy my first time in historic Savannah. Everything in walking, pedicab, or 'downtowner' distance as my car stayed parked right out front. Adorable little place to come back and relax in. Kitchen was missing a few staples but no big deal.

Everything was lovely except the patio. It looked like everything there was old and not updated for future renters. Patio floor didn’t look clean; too many leaves everywhere. Microwave not working properly- but still working. Loved the fact that you can park the car right outside the door. Loved the bathroom shower, had a water jet jacuzzi ! 😁👍. It didn’t have a toilet paper hanger. The clothes dryer wasn’t working properly. Clothes were dry though, just not hot. It was close to everything within walking distance if you wanted. Didn’t need the car. It was ok for the lower price it had . I think I would pay a little more for something nice in the future but for the rental price it was a great stay. Thanks MS and LS

There is only a sofa in the living space so if you have more than 2 people anyone else will have to sit on a dining chair. Overall the furnishings feel like a college dorm - sparse and just a mish mash of things. We had an issue with the tub backing up on day one - something we thought the cleaning crew should have caught. The property manager was responsive (call rather than text for quicker response) and had it taken care of same day. Positives are parking was easily found out front, the street is quiet, and we were able to walk to all of our activities. We'll be finding a different place for our next visit. Overall the house felt well worn and a bit tired.

However, since this is a loft you need to be able to climb up and down a steep staircase which was difficult for us at night. The hand rail was a reach, and the top step had a drop off on the side that could result in tripping down the steps unintentionally. The lamp in the loft bedroom was broken. There was no toilet paper holder in the bathroom. Toilet paper was just propped on top of the toilet. There were no soap dishes. No paper towel holder. No recycling bin outside even though all other homes on the block have two bins. The outdoor courtyard area was very haphazard with a big overgrown and uncared for central area. We still loved Savannah and our stay was nice but all of these things put together resulted in s less than stellar experience.

the magnolia cottage was really perfect. we loved the Beach Institute location funky, cute and easy beautiful walk to everywhere- the river, historic district, parks.. the cottage is adorable, clean, functional, easily make meals in the well equipped kitchen - if you want... the bed is comfy, the dressing area with washer dryer has lots of storage to unpack, put away and keep organized your stuff. Patio was great little out door sunny spot to chill with a book, cup of coffee, meal, cocktail

Parking was easy, the space was perfect for our stay, the amenities in the rental were great, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the neighborhood was a great central location to explore all of Savannah in a walkable fashion, both downtown and south of downtown. It is also a quiet neighborhood so it was not noisy when trying to sleep. The outdoor space at the rental was a cherry on top to enjoy the weather while winding down in your own space. Would love to come back and stay in Magnolia Cottage again!
