The hotel was a lovely refurbished 100+ year old building. Staff was very helpful. Rooms were compact, but had everything we needed. The beds had wonderfully soft cotton sheets.
The neighborhood is kind of sketchy. There are homeless people and drug addicts walking past the hotel at all times of the day. I would not feel comfortable walking around. Fortunatley, we had a car. We used the hotel as a base for day trips.

The location was convenient for what we had planned in Portland
The first room we were given was facing a busy street and was very noisy. We requested a different, quieter room which we only given to us after some back and fourth. The room was pitched to us as an „upgrade“ however there was nothing better about this room except it was quiet. In fact, the layout of the room was awkward, with the bed in the center of the room, no night stand or plugs for phones near the bed and the tv parallel to the bed. Cleanliness of the room was ok at best. Valet prices were $50something plus tip per night.
