The location was excellent, within walking distance of good restaurants, the castle, and other sites.
I do not like self service properties, especially when they do not advertise as such. My phone stopped working and there was no one to help. We could not even call a taxi. It was our first stop in our journey and it made it very stressful.

Our Deluxe Family Room was newly renovated, very clean, with a lovely courtyard. The hotel is located in a charming residential neighbourhood away from the busy tourist areas. It’s close to Arthur’s Seat and about a 45-minute walk southeast of Edinburgh Castle, with easy bus access to the city centre.
The Gifford is self-service, so there are no staff onsite. First response seems to be an AI bot but we were able to communicate with the staff between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. There is no elevator, which is worth noting if you have heavy luggage. There is a luggage storage area available to hold bags on departure day.

Large room, good beds and linens, plenty of towels, coffee machine with pods.
Poor / slow communication, parking not as expected, no onsite staff, loud street noise, shower fixture broken, no hairdryer, no heating in room.
