Cool place very cozy.

No early check in available. Had to stay out front in the hot sun additional 15 minutes after the regular check in. check in process was slow and painful and the room still wasn't done by 330. the complex was kind of old but the pool was extremely enjoyable.
No Condiments available for the coffee.

So much history, I had no idea until Alex checked me in and explained everything, I was really surprised!
The place was very safe & secure, which was important to me as I was travelling alone.
The bed was SO comfy & you had a choice of pillow comfort. The room was a little retro, which was fun. I didn't use the pool or spa, but wish I would've. The outside nightlighting was beautiful. They have done a nice job in preserving all the beauty & history, it really was an interesting stay!

For the price it’s the best place to stay in town! Was worried about some of the reviews, and yea the rooms could use an update, but my room was huge, had private patio, full kitchen, and the grounds and pool were lovely. No complaints whatsoever. Friendly staff.

My stay was amazing. Alex was awesome he made everything easy friendly. Almost don't wanna tell anybody about this place. Because it is that quaint off the beaten trail that you love. Thank you Alex for everything !!
Will definitely be back.

We needed a night upon arrival and wanted a place close to the airport with a vintage feel. Alex was friendly and greeted us upon arrival. Heated pool was nice.

Very nice staff, and clean room. Old building, that could use an update.

This place is a real gem. Lots of room for the money. Great hot tub. Easy management.
Thank you!

Check-in was tedious as we were instructed to sit outside the property while waiting for staff inside to text us with entry access code (took about an hour). Other than that it was a fun spot to stay.

Alex the manager; extremely rude, & harassing. He deserves a negative rating, the day of checkout I woke up to pack, I do photography and had equipment in my room which takes time, I text Alex I needed a late checkout of 11:30, he replied; checkout is at 11am. I replied well if you’d like to help me pack youre more than welcome, I appreciate your patience!
The facility had 4 guests, also twas Christmas Eve, and online showed several vacancies, I don’t see why it was a problem giving me an extra minute. 11am on the house keeper came, I told her I texted Alex about a late checkout and then Alex creeped out of a shadow to harass/argue checkout policy, I said I understood but I cant make my belongings packed instantly, please wait.
There were 0 guests, I didn’t see the issue, he said they were “busy today” & over 15 minutes I frantically packed up still being harassed by Alex, I didn’t even get to finish breakfast & had to throw away, all my equipment was disorganized, and didn’t even get to shower. I was packing my car as a sweaty mess, in fear manager Alex would harass me further. I have been bullied in the past so my anxiety was through the roof. To my surprise I looked across the courtyard to see no other guests, just Alex behind the bar flirtatiously conversing with a female friend on site while the house keeper cleaned, you figure on such a busy day he would lend a hand? I finished packing my car, then spent 10 mins waiting on him for my deposit.

Nice place. Bizarre that there was no front desk. Had to sit in car outside and text someone and then wait quite a while for someone to come to door and check us in on their phone. Room was ok. Nothing special. Mattress was very nice. Hot tub smelled like sulfur or some odd gas. Staff were very nice.

Nice place for vacation

We loved how big the bungalow was and the bed was comfortable, the grounds were nice and pool and jacuzzi were very relaxing.
The only cons were need counter space in the bathroom and a dresser in the bedroom.
We definitely will return.

Worst experience of my life happen with this property i choose this property after that i get to know that they don’t allow small babies & i request to cancel for free the person incharge name Alex agree to make free of cancel & now they are refuse to refund so worst hospitality i have ever seen in hotel business

I loved the whole vibe.

Very well maintained. Both the pool and the hot tuba were heated. Expansive center courtyard so you don’t feel as if you are on top of other guests

We really liked this place- it's super cute and fun. However, we had a truly horrible smell coming out of our drain. They came by to fix it twice, but it came right back. We ended up having to change hotels because it was so nauseating. They didn't offer to change our room, give us a refund, or even apologise. It was really disappointing because otherwise I would have liked to have stayed here again..

The staff was unique with respect to dishonesty, rudeness and incompetence I had a confirmed reservation made hours before my arrival at the property, which was at approximately nine in the evening. I followed the hotel’s check in instructions and did not get a response from Alex, the staff member on duty, for over one hour. It was only after I contacted Expedia. Over an hour after my arrival, I got a text from Alex, informing me that he had cancelled my guaranteed reservation and gave no reasons for doing so. Alex also didn’t explain why he waited to give me this news at ten thirty at night, leaving me high and dry in Palm Springs without a reservation. At the time, I was at a complete loss over Alex’s bizarre behavior. I told Axex that I was not leaving the property until I got an explanation from him as to the specific reasons for his decision. I did hear from Alex. His response was void of any substance. Instead, he made a series of vague threats against me, which was extremely unprofessional. In fact, his threats were laughable, as this tough guy was too much of a coward to actually come out and talk to me. Actually, Alex did me a great favor by canceling my reservation. A Place in the Sun is a dump. It is essentially a dirty, rundown motel that appears to have its last update during the Eisenhower administration. The outdoor area has all the charm of a prison yard, with its high walls constructed to keep out the crazies in the bad neighborhood.

Attentive and professional staff. Great room size and decor.

Very clean. Alex was polite and professional.

This place was great, except the shower really needed some shelves in it, and it didn’t drain well. You also have to text upon arrival, and the slow response caused panic in a lot of people, but once you get in it’s gorgeous!

The floor had bubbles, the screens on the windows are rusted, chipped paint in the tub, grass was overgrown, water sprinklers at 5am are startling sounds like banging on the walls. The process of them taking pictures of my ID and Credit card worries me. The procedure to enter is unwelcoming and weird. The place is cheap and fairly clean but it doesn’t feel super hospitable. The photos are emphasized with vibrancy and saturation but when you walk it it is not as colorful. I’m allergic to chlorine and asked if the pool was chlorine or saline. They said they would ask the contractor and never responded. The tin around the complex traps heat inside and the sun bares down on the complex very hard mid day. The place feels like it isn’t growing as much as fading next to its competition. Customer service wasn’t bad but wasn’t great and welcoming. They are really big on being isolated from outside visitors and people who are interested in seeing the property without a reservation(sign posted outside the door.)

Had an amazing experience here! First time and will be returning for many many more! Love the private out back park on the room came with, so spacious, perfect for 1 or 2 people for a relaxing getaway!

Absolutely loved our stay here! The aesthetic & vibes were old Hollywood/50’s which I think is awesome. Everything was super clean and the pool was great! We were taken care of at check in by Alex and loved how he told us the history of the place and took care of us. Will be definitely coming back to stay!
Don’t let the texting to get into the motel/check in, throw you off. it took like 10-15mins to get into the motel to complete check in and I feel like that extra step makes it feel a bit safer on who can come in and out of the place. New favorite place to stay in Palm Springs!

This was like taking a step back into a more idyllic time. Subtly romantic and understated in its other era extravagance. The staff was delightful and added to the experience.

My pillows were really musty smelling the smell was gross. I slept like that the whole night. The fridge was filthy. All I got was an I'm sorry. People spend the only money they have to enjoy themselves and a sorry doesn't doesn't do nothing for sleeping in that smell all night and having a filthy fridge

It was different experience checking in, I had to text, then I had to send a pic of my ID and CC via text. Didn’t see anyone to give my info to! Just weird!!!

The check in was difficult. The primary sign was large and easy to read, but there was a second, very small sign, that said to call a different number to check in. Needs to be larger for easy read. In evening, a circuit breaker tripped and lights and ac went out. Called host on duty and he was able to reset quickly, but still an inconvenience. Check out required us to put key in box at the pool. But when we were leaving, the box wasn’t there. Had to leave key in lock at room.

The check in was unsettling. Check in is at 3:00 p.m.. My husband and I got there at 2:36. When we approached the property, there was a big metal door with a sign on it stating we had to text the number given and wait for a response. I followed the instructions and when I received a text back, it said we had to come back after 3 p.m. to check in. Had we arrived 1-3 hours early, I'd understand. But 24 minutes early should not be an issue. When we were finally let in to the property, there was not one single person anywhere. We were texted instructions to wait by the pool for someone to meet us. When he came out we were asked to provide ID and he then walked us to the room. There was a lockbox outside the door with a Combo code lock on it where our room key was being kept...? I found that very odd... Upon entering the room, I was immediately disappointed with the condition of the room. VERY outdated furniture, the back patio that we paid extra for hadn't been groomed, the sliding door to the patio didn't lock properly, the oven wouldn't light even after trying to use the lighter they provided to light the pilot, there is no control for the temperature of the A/C (just a metal switch in the wall that turns it on or off), no spare blankets or pillows beyond what is on the bed, the bathtub had been painted with regular house paint for some reason, no plastic cups in the bathroom and already used shampoo/conditioner and body wash. Room cost us $364 non refundable dollars :-(

Loved the history, the bungalows, quiet and enclosed, made you feel in another world, staff was very friendly and gave you personal treatment, wish we could have stayed longer, we will stay again

Thank you so much we had an amazing stay!! Very clean and great service!

Though some aspects of the units are dated, A Place in the Sun is great - spacious, nicely maintained common area, good location. We had a unit with a private yard and patio, which was excellent for our dog. We had direct access out the back door to the riverwalk, which was perfect.

Very inconvenient check in process, you have to text the staff. Also you can’t ever reach anyone by phone you have to call. Property says adults only but there were minors staying on the property when we arrived.

I liked the concept of the property… kinda kitschy throwback to the 60’s when Liz Taylor and Marilyn Monroe were in their prime. However, the property shows its age. Things are a bit worn and rickety.
The electrical system needs to be updated. Did not like all the extension cords that were plugged into just a few outlets in order to provide power to the array of devices that are standard for today’s traveller.
The person on call who takes care of the place - Alex - was great. Kind, concerned, helpful, easy to reach; the place would be much less welcoming without him.
Did not like the entry process. I found it difficult to figure out what I was supposed to do to get though the huge metal gates. It was not welcoming.
4.0
Check in process was creepy - stayed two nights and never met a soul who worked at the property. Need to inform that the process is fully remote and update the contact number, especially for those being dropped off after dark. Also, let guests know there's no housekeeping. Otherwise the property and stay were very nice.

Very nice place to stay in Palm Springs. Management was excellent, very friendly and helpful.
