The Space:

The Shed Retreat is a private, characterful guesthouse tucked away on a peaceful farm block at Tikitere, with distant views over Lake Rotorua and the rolling farmland all around. It's a single-level space, warm and comfortable with underfloor heating for the cooler months, and the star of the show is the private cedar hot tub out front - a wonderful spot to soak while you take in the views and watch the animals grazing in the neighbouring paddock. There's a Weber BBQ for cooking outdoors, and the whole setting is quiet, rural and restful - a proper escape from it all, yet only about 20 minutes from town. It's an easy, romantic base for couples, with room to sleep up to four.

Guest Access:

Your space includes the guesthouse, the private cedar hot tub and the Weber BBQ, with free parking on the property.

The Neighborhood:

The Shed Retreat sits in rural Tikitere, just east of Rotorua - a peaceful, farming pocket that feels a world away. The Hell's Gate geothermal reserve and mud spa is only about 3 minutes down the road, and Lake Rotokawau, a lovely swimming spot, is a short drive or walk away. Central Rotorua, with its restaurants, shops and geothermal attractions, is around 21 minutes' drive, so you get the best of both: rural peace and quiet with the city close at hand.

Getting Around:

A car is essential out here, with free off-street parking on the property. By car, Hell's Gate is just 3 minutes away, Rotorua Airport around 9, the Redwoods Forest about 18, and central Rotorua roughly 21. There's no public transport nearby, so your own vehicle is the way to explore.

Other Things to Note:

A few honest things to know: The Shed Retreat is a characterful, converted rural guesthouse rather than a large home - cosy and private, and part of its charm. It's set on a working rural block, so expect farm animals and country sounds nearby, and the owners live on-site about 85 metres away (they'll respect your privacy). The private cedar hot tub is out front, and there's underfloor heating to keep things warm. It's a peaceful, out-of-town spot, so a car is essential.

The Shed Retreat is an ideal getaway location for a Rotorua visit. It's only 20 minutes from the city centre but feels miles away given its rural locale. Great interior decor, a super-comfy bed and of course the cedar spa pool with its view is outstanding. Can't recommend it highly enough.
