Upstairs there are two oceanfront primary bedrooms with king four poster mahogany beds, and french doors opening onto a spacious oceanfront lanai. Surrender to the serene views and sounds of the ocean, and even whalewatch during the winter months. This Kekaha estate was featured in the book the Hawaiian House Now and was one of only two houses from Kauai in the book published in 2007. Hawaii still lives in Kekaha said Gail Miller of the sleepy West Kauai town she lived in since 1998, when this publicized and well known designer purchased this Sugar Mill Manager home. Originally built in 1933, it was purchased by Miller after she first saw this beach side house. It was the original features, many of which were preserved during the extensive renovation, that attracted her to this house. Rich Douglas fir floors, gracious archways, ceilings fabricated from sugar cane, and large rooms that opened onto the outdoors provided the ingredients to create and preserve a piece of rich Hawaiian heritage. Neutral colors have been used to highlight the beauty of the outdoor ocean setting she said in describing the interior finishes. Surfers and tourists line the shore to watch the sun drop into the western horizon at an hour that used to bustle with workers returning from the fields to their homes here in Kekaha.

Loved the access to the hikes, beaches and beauty of Kauai! House lived to the pictures with plenty of inside / outside space with an expansive porch that flowed to the pool. Great layout for our family!

My wife, 3 adult daughter their significant others, and I made this our home for 5 days on Kauai. The home was big enough for us to not be in each other's space and cozy enough to have quality time together in the living room playing games, in the dining room eating dinner, or on any of the 3 covered porches. Even the kitchen - although cozy - was plenty big enough for 5 of us to make quick work of meal prep together.The beds were comfy. The air conditioning cooled the bedrooms in minutes before going to bed. The kitchen was well stocked. There were ample towels for the beach and the pool. Speaking of which...I didn't use the pool, but the rest of the family enjoyed it several times. My happy place was enjoying my morning cup of local Hawaiian coffee on the front porch listening to and watching the waves.Jeremy (our host) was both proactive and responsive. He was helpful coordinating with the housekeeper so that we could come 30-60 mins before check-in directly from stocking up at Costco and Target to get the cold items in the fridge. She was delightful (as were her 2 young children) and made sure we felt at home on the porch out of her way while she finished up. It's obvious she takes pride in her work.

The property is gorgeous! It’s spacious and beautifully decorated. The grounds are well kept. It’s a true classic Hawaiian treasure. We had a concern with the stove smelling of gas and called the contact who immediately picked up and handled the situation.
Over all it was fantastic!
