Well, you get what you pay for, really! One thing worth knowing is that the hosts manage several properties around the area, so you don't necessarily know exactly which property you'll be staying in until you're allocated a room. My review is specifically for 1348 1/2 W 35th St, so if you get allocated to this property, here are a few things to bear in mind. Firstly, there are four flights of stairs, so definitely consider this if you're travelling with heavy suitcases. Another thing to be aware of is the cleanliness. The property only gets a deep clean every two weeks, so if you're unlucky enough to arrive towards the end of that period, you might find the communal areas quite dirty. However, if you happen to arrive just after they've cleaned, everything should be nice and clean. It's basically hit or miss, and you never really know what you're going to get. The rooms themselves are actually quite clean, which is a positive. However, the walls are extremely thin, and you can hear absolutely everything from the neighbouring rooms. Even the beeping from someone entering their room's keypad code sounds as though it's happening inside your own room. There's practically no soundproofing, so if you're a light sleeper or value peace and quiet, definitely bear that in mind. I'd recommend bringing earplugs for sleeping! There are also people living at the property long term, rather than just short-term guests. However, at 1348 1/2, the people living there are actually respectful of the communal areas. Nobody takes over the shared spaces, so you can comfortably use the living room and kitchen without feeling like you're intruding on someone's personal space, which I appreciated. The location is actually one of the positives. There are plenty of shops nearby for pretty much anything you might need, including groceries and everyday essentials.

It's worth remembering that this review only applies to the property I stayed in, as your experience could be completely different depending on where you're allocated.

I really like the remodeling that had been done. Easy to access and great location to easily get to the shrine theater.
I wish there had been an extra blanket in the room..but once I figured out how to turn the ac from 64 to 67 I was fine...also, if you all plan to paint the room in future I highly recommend investing in gloss paint rather then eggshell or matte...overall good stay.

It has minimum amenities to survive. The staff is responsive on booking dot com chat.
1. They assigned the same room as me to another guest. Someone else walked into my room while I was there. That is extremely poor for customer privacy and safety. 2. The staff does not care about customer privacy either. Cleaning lady walked into my room as well. 3. There is no way to lock your room door. Anyone with a code can come in from outside if they have the code. No way to lock your door from inside for privacy. 4. The wifi is very bad. Assume no internet. 5. They say that the common area should be used without shoes but it was very dirty. Even the room was dirty and I did not feel comfortable removing my footwear anywhere in the property. 6. There was smell of weed coming in from the AC vent every other night. 7. I was locked out of their main door once as the code was not working once. The lock sometimes sticks. There is no one to call to in case of an emergency.
