The location and hotel staff / facilities swimming pool and evening live music in the bar.
This was my first time in Kauai, multiple trips to Maui in he past to base my comparison on. This was just a standard two small kind of queen sized bed room with a dorm fridge, we each had our own bed. No microwave, it was on a different floor and the only one we found for the 3 floor hotel complex (Outrigger Hotel). Check the fine print - I missed the $40 a day parking fee, that added an additional $293. For the same price in October 2025 Maui we had a one bedroom king size bed, full kitchen and living room plus free parking. Good thing we didn't spend much time there except for the day LaLa hit the island. Nothing within walking distance (restaurants & shopping), only Outrigger on-site provided.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Beautiful outdoor facilities with view of ocean.
The beds were small. We had two double beds, and it was a bit uncomfortable for the people who shared one of the double beds.
