Breakfast: below the *** standard, unsuitable for people with diabetes, and I was barred from the dining room because of my own sugar-free cereals. Questionable hygiene. Since I brought my own sugar-free cereals, the staff told me to go to my room or to the 5th floor to eat it. And yet the hotel doesn’t have any cereal or muesli without added sugar, and no nearby establishments offer a full breakfast. My wife stayed in the dining room while I left for a while. I’ve never seen anything like this in a hotel in the 16 years I’ve had diabetes. It ruined my breakfast. THE QUALITY OF THE BREAKFAST IS MEDIOCRE: no bread, just super-cheap toast; the cheapest “croissants”; poor-quality waffles and French toast; no cheese, no ham, no jam, no apples—just scrambled eggs for eggs; and weak coffee served from a pot. Bacon, sausages, and potatoes are available. Unripe strawberries and sweetened blueberries are available. DOUBTFUL HYGIENE: The staff touches the food (toast and “croissants”) without gloves. The waitress high-fives a small child and then touches the food (without gloves). People with diabetes will find unsweetened plain yogurt and almond milk, but I'm not sure if the almond milk is free of added sugar. They must eat their own food in their room and come to the dining room for the rest of their meal. In addition, there was only one decaf coffee capsule (plus two regular coffees) in the room and only one pair of slippers. Following a discussion with the manager, breakfast was provided to us free of charge, but the rule remains in effect, and my start to the day was ruined.
