Good old vibe, Nice garden.

Small room; scanty breakfast.

Location, classical vibe, small garden, huge rooms, nice staff.

The place could use better and newer bed sheets. The ones now are aged.

The staff were very helpful and the room was ready a couple hours early for our check in. The lounge is welcoming and had hot coffee and tea available 24/7. In the evening they offered a complimentary glass of wine there. The back garden is a nice space for relaxing. Chris was very welcoming and provided good conversation at breakfast the next morning with a beautiful yogurt and fruit parfait and bagels. The room was furnished with attractive period appropriate pieces and had a hot water kettle and a box fan in the armoire. The carpet in the room was in good shape and looked very clean. Bedding was crisp and white so you know it's absolutely clean too. They did have 4 or 5 parking spaces to use. The location is fantastic- 2 blocks from Lover's Point beach, one block from the PG museum, and maybe 5 or 6 blocks to Asilomar. Easy walk to a few restaurants and the coastal trail and surrounded by charming vintage homes.

In an attempt to maintain the Victorian look, they went a bit overboard to the point of the room being visually overwhelming instead of cozy and charming (we were in room 22). The curtains were very faded from age, but not in a cool vintage way. That said, the bathroom was done in a generic modern style that didn't fit with the room or hotel ambiance at all. Not a problem really, just not what is expected for a Victorian B&B. The windows are historic and would not stay open, which was a problem because the room was hot (despite cool weather outside) and there isn't any a/c. The ironing board only had one leg still attached so it couldn't stand up. The biggest issue- and only real PROBLEM- was the mattress. It was old and worn out so we did not get much sleep and our bodies hurt the next day. Street parking was very difficult to come by and they only have 4 or 5 spaces for the hotel. The walls are quite thin-- not so ideal for a romantic stay.
