Large room.
We will not stay at the property again because we felt misled by the automatic 18% gratuity.
To be clear, our concern is not that an 18% gratuity was charged or that it was automatically added. We always tip and believe it is the right thing to do. Our concern is that the automatic gratuity was not clearly disclosed. As a result, we unknowingly tipped a second time because we had no reasonable indication that gratuity had already been included.
The lack of transparency made it feel as though guests could easily be misled into tipping twice—which is exactly what happened to us. We simply believe that if an automatic gratuity is added, it should be clearly and prominently communicated so guests can make informed decisions when paying their bill.
