The antique setting, the view, the atmosphere, location, staff and characters. It’s a classic. Room was great.
TV didn’t work and we had to complain numerous times to get it fixed. Breakfast was lacking and items weren’t replenished during the breakfast period.
8.0
The history of the hotel, ambience and location.
Bathroom a little crowded

Classic, cozy club/hotel that honors its history with kind, welcoming staff who makes you feel like a local. Great location with tramways outside. Offers access to club facilities and breakfast with room. Handsome bar and great restaurant open midweek.
Nothing…would stay again.

limited food options, breakfast just ok.

Location is amazing and I love the historic feel of the club. The views from the third-floor cannot baby, gorgeous Sweeping views of San Francisco. However, the phone in my room didn't work (and no one came to replace/fix over the 3 nights I was there), I had difficulty controlling the temperature of the room. However, the location is amazing and the price is exceptional for the area.

Great location.
Older facilities, e.g. hot water radiator for room heat.

Did not like the flat sheet for the mattress, a fitted sheet would preferred and make more sense.

This looks to be a grand hotel or old. It captures the essence of the luxuries of the mod 20th century. Very well appointed with wonderful character.
The breakfast could have used at least one hot option: oatmeal.

Great and peaceful location on the cable car route to the Bay area, historic vintage interiör, all stories, photos and art on the walls of the hotel, the Black Cat Bar, library, very kind and helpful staff. This building offers a sight to the San Franciscos development. The hotel rooms are rebuild, fresh and new. We highly recommend!
Note when using cable car validity of one day ticket. One day is a week day, not 24 hours.

beautiful building, incredible piece of history and Fred took me around explaining the different rooms and their history. The view is exceptional.
it has old traditional carpet which holds a slightly musty smell but it is part of its history.

We loved the history of the building. Touring around was really cool. The library was the best. We also loved having use of the spa, that was an unexpected bonus. The staff was super friendly and the bar and view was beautiful.
We did not expect to pay so much for off premise parking, but that is my fault, but a shock none the less. I have been to many historical building hotels and this one was very.....old? Not very welcoming(as far as atmsphere), the towels were thin the toilet paper was rough, no ac. It just didn't seem like a top notch hotel.

The staffs were great. This is a beautiful Grade-II heritage building. They have an amazing view of the city- so a drink in their magnificent, royal bar is a must.
It is very close to downtown. Hop on the cable car and you will be there in five mins. China Town is walking distance especially if you fancy Asian food.
Fisherman Wharf is beautiful and a stroll around the area is a must. Again catch the cable car to the Wharf.

The restaraunt, the club members, the views, the bar, the gym, the room, the location!
The breakfast was very minimal. A mini fridge and hairdryer would have been useful.

The staff was excellent: they were friendly, responsive, attentive, and helpful.
I had some issues with the lamps: I could only turn them on and off by unplugging them (these were old floor lamps whose switches didn't seem to work). Might want to switch them out.

I felt like I was royality. I arrived about 9pm and was greeted by a cheerful woman that made me feel welcome. She escorted me to my room. The next morning the man at the front desk made me feel equally welcome. The breakfast was elgant and the location was second to none.
No washclothes in the bathroom.
The window was stuck open. I didn't ask about either- so both are on me.

I loved the ambience and the character of the hotel.
The bathroom could have been cleaner.
