Look and location
No staff at all , all remote checkin. For that money I’d expect a personal touch

The Inn doesn't serve breakfast so we wound up at The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
A rubber mat to prevent slipping in the shower and a foot towel provided. Also, the refrigerator knob comes off when you open the door, and the refrigerator had water on all the shelves.

“Good evening, Hideaway Inn LEEnox,” said the voice on the other end of the line as we tried to check in from what used to be the front desk. “Uh, I believe that would be ‘Lenox,’” I replied.
So it has come to this. This cozy, beautifully decorated, old-fashioned hotel is unstaffed, so the feeling is eerie, as if ghosts inhabit the place. You can make yourself a latte at the coffee machine behind the bar in the morning, but the coffee is weak, and how nice it would be to have a cheery local employee pouring coffee and describing local attractions. Judging by job ads in restaurant windows around town, it’s difficult to hire help in the Berkshires. No doubt regular folks can’t afford to live in the area. On balance, I would recommend this hotel, but don’t expect personal hospitality.
Run your finger along the top of the bed stand or the top of the mirror on the bathroom door, and feel layer upon layer of dust. Glance up to the ceiling and find the fire detector encased in plastic wrap secured by blue painter’s tape. Reach into the closet and find no hangers to hang clothes. Press the shampoo dispenser in the shower and find that the container is empty. Ask a person — yes! a person, in the form of housekeeping staff turning over rooms — for a refill and find a replacement plastic bottle on a table in your room upon return. Struggle to detach the empty container from the bracket on the shower wall. Give up, and place the full shampoo bottle on the floor of the shower stall.
If the hotel had an employee who could take ownership, these kind of problems could be solved. But I’ll still rate the hotel more than satisfactory overall, because I like to support an old hotel with character any day, over some boring chain hotel.

Great location Walking distance to downtown Lenox and very close to tanglewood. The building is a nice Victorian with some charm in the common spaces
Our bathroom was very sub par. Clawfoot tub for a shower with a too small curtain around it. Water got everywhere. The curtains were so thin practically see through on bathroom windows looking out into a busy parking lot. It was an expensive stay but the room was typical of a much lower cost inn.
