Location perfect for enjoying downtown Bend.
Sometimes one goes to an under priced hotel and is surprised and delighted by the unexpected comforts, treats, or perks that are made available. Then there is the NEWBERRY in Bend. It’s Memorial Day weekend so you expect to pay more - in this
case over $500 a night. From the descriptions on various booking sites this hotel is a step above and deserving of premium pricing. Unfortunately our expectations and this weekends reality did not match. Let’s start with $20 a night to park in a motel parking lot. Then there is the $2.50 per bottle of 12 ounce water in the room - in our case our hotel status meant we did not have to pay for this ridiculously overpriced eminity. The room had two towels, one bar of soap, and they offered bicycles for $20 for the first hour and the breakfast, while excellent, was served by an obviously over worked solo waiter who obviously couldn’t provide the level of service one might expect. I think you get the drift. This place charges top dollar for substandard service and seemingly penny pinching extras and perks. We will definitely find another hotel when we next visit Bend.
