Perfect location in a very authentic, fun and safe neighborhood

The location was perfect, super nice and Safe neighborhood. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. Staff was very friendly and helpful too.

It is true that the rooms at the ground floor are close to the street and one can hear the traffic especially in the morning, but it did not bother us much.

Charming boutique hotel in a great location

great location a block from Alamo square and the painted ladies. right on the 22 bus line. easy access to other routes. our room faced grove and had a bay view window. bathrooms were recently remodeled. Less than 20 rooms so it feels like you’re part of the neighborhood rather than a big hotel. very clean throughout. key fobs to enter main door. area felt safe and it’s on a very pretty street.

there’s no on site parking. the lot they recommend is 4 blocks away and is pricey. street parking is only 2 hours every day fyi. there’s no AC but they give you a standing fan that isn’t that strong . windows provide air flow but when windows are open, you have bus and street noise. the bathroom and shower was quite small but clean. no ice machine. the stairs to get to second floor are quite steep. front desk is only 9a-5p and if you arrive late, it can be a challenge checking in.

•location •comfortable •friendly staff

•no closet to hang your clothes - we were in the suite (room #1) and there is excess furniture that is really not required. Having an armoire to hang clothes would be ideal •very small televisions and they are not smart tvs.

A good 3 star hotel. Clean, safe, quiet. Rooms were a good size. Nice bathroom/shower. This small, homey hotel is fine but nothing fancy.

The lobby closes at 5:00 pm (the door is locked and no staff are present for the entire evening). No food service at all.

Ideal accommodation in a safe area for both the airport and getting downtown.

Great position near a park, interesting houses and close to a bus stop. Felt safe walking around the area at night and there was restaurant opposite. Easy to access property even without a formal reception out of hours. We travelled to the hotel from the airport by taxi and downtown by bus with ease.

No real issues and no reception at night isn’t a problem.

A great place to spend the night in SF

Location is one block from the “painted ladies”. Street parking was available and free. Nice coffee shop nearby. Lovely bay window in our room with blackout shades. As always in SF, street noise from trash trucks/ construction can be very noisy by 5am. Very welcoming reception staff between 9am-5pm. Self check in available. Small complimentary packages of cookies and chocolates and packets of coffee/tea.

The Grove Inn is exactly what we expected, a simple, small boutique hotel that was a little out of the way but still convenient for exploring San Francisco. We appreciated the complimentary breakfast snacks, and the room was a decent size. It was also nice to know the owner lived on site as the reception was not staffed 24 hours per day.

Our only gripe was that our window gave straight onto the street right in front of the bus stop, so we could hear the bus announcements when we were there during the day. Thankfully these were muted at night. This hotel is a little retro, so we felt a little unsettled about the locks on our door being a simple key... it wasn't easy to tell when it was locked or not.

awesome!

a gorgeous building in a premium location very close to the famous neighbourhood of Mission, Castro and Haight Ashbury, but also not far from Union Square and downtown. My room was spacious and comfortable, two big windows facing the street but still very quiet. Bed was very comfortable, the bathroom had very good quality free toiletries and a powerful shower. I loved staying at the Grove Inn with my friends (we had three bedrooms) and I highly recommend it. For my birthday I found a very sweet birthday card in my room. That was a very nice touch. I will stay again!

comfortable place with nice little extras

a warm and comfortable oasis. The staff were lovely. The bed and bathtub were amazing. The offered so many little extras that made a big difference (umbrellas for guests to use, mints and Hershey kisses, wine openers). easy to walk or to catch the bus right outside the property.

Perfectly suited for exploring the city!

Nice and affordable little boutique hotel in the Lower Haight. Rooms decorated and kept with a lot of care & flair - one can really see that this one is owner-kept! Spacious room with a very comfortable bed. Access-code check-in worked smoothly.

No breakfast or possibility of getting e.g. water or softdrinks in the hotel.... and no, cookies are not really a replacement ;)
