The pools are visually impressive and well designed. The kids’ pool area is attractive and worked very well for our 5-year-old.
The playground is also a good addition for families.
The property looks modern and vibrant, and the fire show / foam party concept is appealing.
We appreciate the reception efforts for early check-in. We arrived at 10:00 and received the rooms at 12:00 instead of 15:00.
The biggest issue was the mismatch between pricing, branding and actual service quality.
Access to the beachfront pool area is restricted unless you reserve a table for a substantial fee or commit to minimum spending. This is not clearly communicated in advance when promoting events like the fire show or foam party. You only discover it on site. Being told that you cannot simply swim unless you pay extra is frustrating, especially when traveling with a child.
Service speed throughout the hotel was consistently unacceptable for a property in this price range.
Even ordering a soft drink took an excessive amount of time.
At the smokehouse restaurant, lunch lasted approximately 2.5 hours. A burger was served visibly undercooked. We took one bite and left. For the prices charged, this level of execution is not acceptable.
Room maintenance and housekeeping standards were below expectations. We noticed spiders near the air conditioning unit. In room 6308 (occupied by my parents), the bathtub drainage was defective — water leaked from underneath the tub and flooded the bathroom floor during showers.
In room 6306, there was a connecting door to the adjacent room with extremely poor sound insulation. We could clearly hear conversations and even whispers from next door, as if the guests were in our room. We requested a room change; it was only possible the next day. We decided not to move due to the inconvenience of repacking and relocating luggage.
The surrounding area of Patong is also noticeably overpriced compared to other areas such as Kata Beach. While this is not directly the hotel’s responsibility, it affects overall value perception.
Overall, the operational execution does not match the Marriott brand positioning. Many aspects felt closer to a mid-range (2- or 3-star) property rather than a premium resort.
