Excellent breakfast and dinner menus. Staff were of the highest standard, in particular, Alexandra and Vlad. Layout of the hotel is best described as 'cozy' and comfortable. Location was OK into Bowness, but use of a car or taxi is advisable, particularly at night, given the lack of safe footpaths. Bedroom/bathroom were spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the property.
We stayed in a Superior Room, which, compared to other hotels, was quite small. The hotel experienced a boiler malfunction during one of our mornings, resulting in cold showers! For a 5-star hotel, such an event should not have occured, had a 24-hour emergency maintenance company been employed. The fact that there was apparently no night duty manager present at the hotel, compounded the issue. No reduction in our bill was offered.

Wonderful staff
Good hearty breakfast
Service with a smile
Very comfortable beds
We booked a superior room and unfortunately it had no view except a skip and the emergency exit. This is room 1 (buttermere). It was noisy of a morning and late at night so is not an ideal room if you need a quiet/relaxing stay. It should be a cheaper room in my opinion.

The hotel was located in a quiet setting and had a peaceful atmosphere. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was hot and fresh and served at the table. There were gowns and slippers in the bedroom along with daily homemade cookies
The bedroom fell far below our expectations. The wallpaper was stained, the carpet was wrinkled and came away from the thresh on the first morning, this was quickly put right by staff. The seal on the shower door sprang open at the bottom which meant stepping out of the shower onto a wet floor/bathmat. On the second day the hospitality tray was replenished and the towels folded, however the bed had not been made and the carpet hadn't been vacuumed.
