Everything! I was looking for a stop over for a drive from the north of Scotland to the South East. Didn’t need anything fancy and the area of this hotel was about half way. The reviews were good and it is a real gem! The staff are lovely, has a great country house charm, good food and a beautiful location. The gardens are stunning! The weather was pretty miserable during our stay, but can imagine sitting outside in the stunning gardens on a nice day.
I can’t recommend enough and will definitely come back.

The hotel was located in a quiet setting and had a peaceful atmosphere. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was hot and fresh and served at the table. There were gowns and slippers in the bedroom along with daily homemade cookies
The bedroom fell far below our expectations. The wallpaper was stained, the carpet was wrinkled and came away from the thresh on the first morning, this was quickly put right by staff. The seal on the shower door sprang open at the bottom which meant stepping out of the shower onto a wet floor/bathmat. On the second day the hospitality tray was replenished and the towels folded, however the bed had not been made and the carpet hadn't been vacuumed.
