Beautifully decorated, spotless rooms in a gorgeous rural location. The best breakfast I've had outside my mum's house. A very charming and kind host who pulled out all the stops to make me feel comfortable and at home.
The parking was a little tight. That's all.

As two couples, we stayed for two nights whilst on a golfing weekend at nearby Thornhill GC (definitely well worth a visit)
The property is a beautifully presented period house in its own grounds.
Elizabeth Ann provided a very warm and genuine welcome before giving us a quick tour before showing us to our rooms. The bedrooms are on the 1st floor accessed by a large wide sweeping staircase. There is no lift, but an offer to assist with the bags was made. Both bedrooms were large and we found the beds comfortable. Usual tea and coffee, etc, provided. There is a lovely view of the nearby Lowther Hills from 'Highland' room.
As previous reviews have mentioned the bathrooms are not en-suite but there are two separate bathrooms on the landing and warm, fluffy bathrobes are provided to protect one's modesty.
Our friends require a gluten-free diet, and Elizabeth Ann had obviously done her homework and gone to some lengths to source suitable ingredients from local suppliers.
A well cooked (and plentiful) breakfast including gluten free sausages, black pudding, toast etc as well as home made rhubarb and ginger compote, jams and local honey was served to suit our timetable for our golf games.
An added bonus was being able to purchase a lovely, unique pearl necklace as a surprise gift for my wife's 'big' birthday ( I hope my wife doesn't read this review until October)
A really relaxing break where we were made to feel more like family friends than paying guests.
We hope to be able to visit again in the not too distant future.
There was nothing to dislike.

Elizabeth Ann was a wonderfully engaging host, knowledgeable about a whole range of subjects and Scaurbridge, a beautiful Georgian manse, wonderfully furnished, on the outskirts of Penpont is also her home,. Everything about it is charming and it has a real sense of place which makes a change in a world of generic hotels. The breakfast was very tasty, I'm a vegetarian and was fully catered for, the Rhubarb and Ginger compote was especially memorable, and at night it was completely silent and I had a great night's sleep. I look forward to staying there longer the next time.
It was great, perfect for what I needed.
