The location directly in front of the beach.
The food and service were very nice and attentive.
The beachbar was also very nice and staff super friendly
The room in the ground floor was having noise from the upper rooms, the kitchen (direct wall next to the room) and hallway.

This was one of our favorite hotels during our Costa Rica trip. The rooms were very nice with a balcony that overlooks the property and all the tropical wildlife surrounding. No a/c though, but multiple fans! It’s basically beachfront with multiple bars and areas to relax. The food was and drinks were delicious and the service was amazing. The staff was so nice, especially Stephen at the desk and one of the waitresses we had almost every day was super friendly and personable! We were sad to leave!!

the suite with the hammock closest to the ocean is worth it ( howler suite). being next to the beach is nice. Frappuccino delicious 😋
no ac. drinks weren’t strong at all. food only so so with some dishes leaving a lot to be desired (problem with all costs rica to be fair)

I loved the general vibe of the property. The staff members were amazing and always ready to help. The location was great! Right next to the sea, and you can take a 30-minute walk on the beach to Puerto Viejo city centre (avoid doing it at night though). The restaurant was nice as well.
The bedsheets could (and SHOULD!) have been much cleaner. The lights inside my room and bathroom weren’t bright enough.

Food, beach and the area around the hotel.
No proper breakfast buffet. Very limited selection.

Everything was simply great! we were spent there an excellent time ! I am strongly recommended!
Not important for everyone, but if you are sensitive to noise, you surely need ears plugs if you book the sloth room as phonic isolation is not its strong point ;-) otherwise, everything was great!

Hotel grounds and proximity to the beach was amazing. We didn't take any tours but front desk staff was great giving us
directions by car to local attractions Manzanillo park and Punta Uva Beach. We had a bungalow of sorts which was great.
Dinner was bad we only ate there first night, food was cold and not very tasty. Some of the waiters were a bit clueless. They had shrimp available from the bar in the afternoon but we asked for it at dinner and the answer was no. We wanted
to eat at around 5:30 and the answer was no I ordered a beer on the beach which showed up warm. Breakfast was OK but I have had better/

Hello! My husband and I stayed here on our way to and from Panama. It was the perfect spot. on our way down we stayed one night in a small bungalow that was very private and super cute! On the way back we stayed in an ocean room that is above the lobby and restaurant. Both rooms were very beautiful and clean.
The staff is amazing. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. The food and drinks are fantastic and affordable. They have an amazing breakfast that was included with the stay. My husband and I had the best deep tissue massage right on the ocean for a very reasonable price! They have a shop across the road with everything you would need.
The tour people are great. We rented bikes twice and rode to town. It’s a fun ride!
We enjoyed our stay very much and cannot wait to visit again!
They are kinda picky on what dollars or colones bills you use at the store across the way, so just make sure there are no tears on your bills and no paper colones bills…
This isn’t really negative if you don’t mind, but the ocean rooms are not very private. Next time I would choose the single bungalow when we came back through. It was no problem, but if you want to have a more discrete room than I would suggest one that is not above the restaurant.

The location is gobsmacking. I've been coming to Puerto Viejo for 30 years (although first time here) and this is the only place near town where you can stay right on the water (rooms with ocean view) yet still have all the amenities of a world-class resort. Staff were perfectly attentive and perfectly laid back. We only had breakfast in the restaurant, but there were different options everyday, and everything we had was delicious & fresh, fruits, bread, eggs, etc. They are also very helpful at coordinating activities such as snorkeling trips, hiking expeditions, transportation around the country without charging any more than if you booked the activities yourself. Cheerful staff everywhere spread good mood all around. Also, we saw beautiful wildlife all over, colorful frogs, birds, snakes, butterflies.
Puerto Viejo is at least a 4 hour drive from the San Jose airport, although you can fly pretty cheaply from San Jose to Limon, then only 1 hour by car. The hotel will probably help you book that option. (I wouldn't wing it from Limon.)

We liked the ambience of the restaurant, the beach facing bars.
The first day when we came in, there was a strong drainage kind of musty smell in the room, which was a tropical room. When we complained, the people at reception told us that it is because of humidity and sprayed some room freshner. I was okay with it. However the next night was a disaster, when we had gone out for a bit and on returning found that the entire room was raining soap water leaking from the roof presumably from the bathroom upstairs and we had some of our luggage get drenched. When we complained, we were told that it was because the bathtub on top had overflown, however it does indicate that there was a leakage issue for the room which hadn't been looked into or fixed. We were given temporary boarding in an apartment in a different place which was on the middle of the street and we couldn't sleep well that night due to the sound of traffic. We then had to request a refund back for that night and the next night as we did not want to continue our stay there. The reception staff were polite and helped us with the refund. Unfortunately this incident did damage our spirits of our visit to the Carribean coast as this was supposed to be a birthday trip.
