Great Hosts, up in the mountains

Lovely location, once found. Pre booked evening meal was excellent. The hosts helped out with a little car trouble we had. The panoramic views from the room were well worth the long drive in!

For us, it was difficult to find. To be fair, it was exactly where both bookings and google said it was but this was a street lined with houses and no sign outside.

Beautiful place for a getaway

Gorgeous place to unwind and escape from the tropical heat of panama city ;-) the view was spectacular, we loved watching the sunset while having a pizza take away from a restaurant closeby. The owners are helpful and so nice, we cannot wait to go back!

Phenomenal location, wonderful owners, and great birding!

This place was magical. Pictures simply do not do the view from our room justice! You can see for miles into untouched rainforest in the national park, and watch raptors spiral up from the valley, riding the thermals. We saw many species, most notably white hawk and black hawk eagle without leaving the table in our sitting area. As dusk settled, we enjoyed hearing mottled owls, broad-billed motmots, mistletoe tyrannulets, and other species as we relaxed in comfort by the private pool. The pool was clean, cool, and a luxurious addition to the room! The property is in close proximity to many hiking trails that you can only access if you stay right within Cerro Azule! The owners were incredibly hospitable and kind to us. They showed us some tree frogs (Lucas and Lucy!) and were very interested in conservation and protecting biodiversity. They kept a beautiful, well maintained garden. We also saw a lot of wildlife and bird species right on the property or a short walk down the road, including a sloth and toucans. If you are a birder, I highly recommend this spot. I wish we could have stayed for a month!

There was nothing to dislike, except that we had to leave too soon!

Location and view were Great.

The room was no very clean and the bed sheets didn’t smelled clean, we couldn’t use the tub because it looked dirty. The kitchen area was not ready to use right away although we checked in at 2pm and let the host know we will requiere to cook because there is not many options to eat around. The place is very relaxing and has a great view but needs to improve some details to have a pleasant stay.

What a view!

The view from the cabin was very beautiful and is THE attraction of this place. The owners are very nice and try everything to make a succes of your stay. We couldn't make pancakes in the kitchen in our room, but the owners let us use another kitchen, very friendly. The room is spatious and the bed is comfortable. Although we have a few comments (see below) don't hesitate to book this wonderful place!

But.... the place is not perfect. The kitchen is very basic with just an airfryer and a rice cooker. We asked for a water cooker to make our own tea and coffee, which was given to us immediately. The owner has plans to improve the kitchen within a few months time. With some inventiveness we were able to make our own meals. The wifi is bad and you can't rely on it. We realize this place is remote, but maybe it would be better not to advertise with wifi. The place is clean, but not tiptop clean. There aren't many lamps in the room, so at night it was difficult to read a book. Everyday we had (very) strong winds and could not sit outside to enjoy the scenery. In the dry season the cabin seems to be on the windy side of the village, at the other side of town there was hardly any wind.

Excellent people, excellent views, excellent room, unforgettable experience.

The family running Mandalas Eco Lodge are truly wonderful - Oscar and Shirlen were warm, friendly and had a great sense of humor. When they showed us our room, we were blown away - it was in such a beautiful location, the room literally near the top of a mountain in Cerro Azul - the views are incredible! The room has large windows overlooking the tropical forest! We absolutely loved our stay here - if you're planning a trip to Panama, check out Mandalas - it was an unforgettable experience.

Cozy/Cute/Lovely Cabana

Awesome view from the room. Sufficient space for 4 people to enjoy, as the patio is spaceous. We had 2 nights carbon bbq with the nice breeze. Shirlen (owner) is very helpful. Shower has very hot water. Kitchen in lodge is a bit tiny, but 5m away have a fully equipped kitchen. (p.s. The fridge/freezer frozen much food. Fresh food need to put outside.)

Quiet and friendly. Simple worthwhile activities and a sense of comfort.

Meals were very modest and served with love. The simplicity of the stay was what i was looking for. Bring your own snacks if you are a foodie.

Plentiful Hot water for the shower would be great.
